I have implemented some changes on the website.
Some boards was merged, some deleted and a new one added (Games).
Moved topic 'stubs' will now be deleted after 30 days.

I don’t think you’re understanding the topic of “I am lonely will anyone speak to me”. When I gave my 'comment' about the change in the forum, I was starting a conversation; I was not reprimanding you or ppl involve with this site.
It is just talk. You see sometimes us lonely ppl don’t feel like moaning and groaning all the time, but we do want to start a conversation with other ppl.
I’m not sure what you want from guests on this topic... sad, depressed ppl all the time. They will be some of that, but you should be proud that there are supportive ppl as well.
Why are you stressing us out with so many rules? We already have many problems in our lives and would just like a little friendship.

Has anyone noticed that we’ve been changed from the 'lounge' to 'off-topic'? what was wrong with lounge? Off-topic? Well I guess we are off the games topic, but can’t we be categorized as 1.'universal appeal' 2. 'diverse topics' 3. 'Heterogeneous'...any other ideas?

soimnotalone Guest | I would also like to add that thanks to you, I’ve made some friends in this topic that has made my unemployed lonely days bearable. You don’t know how overwhelming loneliness can be. And I also like to thank you for deleting the annoying posts that are rude and childish.
I’m sure it is difficult to decipher between conversational topics and annoying posts, but the names of the person posting should be a good clue as to what to do.
Everybody reacts to their depression/loneliness/sadness differently, and it is a huge responsibilities to try and monitor such forums, adding stress to already stressful ppl can be dangerous for the person posting.
Most ppl writing in that subject has some serious problems and it is good to have a voice of reason within the thread.
I hope you understand what I’m talking about. I am not one of those adolescent within this site, though I believe that some of them has some serious problems as well.
And lastly, I really don’t care that you changed the forum name to 'off topics', it was never my focus.

Regular Rep: 5Joined: 20 Nov 2004 Posts: 1,269 | The original intent of this web site, as its name “moviecodec” suggests, is to be a forum for people discussing codecs (audio and video) and related topics. Bjarne wanted to put p2p topics in there originally as well. Over the course of time (since anonymous posting is allowed), people started diverging from that. I suggested a new board be made for those posts, which we’ll call “off-topic” - anything not related to the topic of audio/video. Perhaps Bjarne wanted to make that section a little more user-friendly, so he later named it “Lounge”. But seeing the latest turn of events (how totally out of control that board is), he probably gave it its more fitting name back.
For my part, I don’t care what that board is called. I almost never monitor it, and nearly anything goes in it. I only focus on codec-related topics. I don’t think you should worry about the board name, since nothing in its name keeps you from posting whatever is on your mind. As Shakespeare said “what’s in a name? that which we call a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet”.

As I mentioned before, I’m not interested in the name either, I was just concerned when I got 'moderated'.
