I’ve been away for a while, but I’ve noticed you cleaned up some things. What is the update about Taurus, 42 guest names and counting, imposters, the hacking that was going on, etc?
i posted my thing a while back re taurus, etc. i went away for a while, busy. came back and the whole forum has changed etc. noticed anonymous had posted a thread to me about the whole xbox360 — -vs — -ps3 thread....so was wondering whats the gossip, whats actually been going down, happening.
If you want to get my attention, post in the feedback board (I moved this thread there BTW). Like I said, I try to stay away from the off-topic board if I can (though lately I feel as though I’ve been coerced into keeping an occasional eye on it.)

Only minimally. The new moderators did most of the cleanup in the lounge.

He still uses different subnets every time. Anyway the newer mods are keeping a closer eye on him, and his posts are deleted faster (hopefully that will continue to remain the case).

Bjarne implemented a script to address that. I think those e-mails stopped.

Well there were about 250 pages worth of posts in that thread. I refused to go and read every single one of them to find all Taurus posts, so I enrolled some volunteers (I’m sure you, Sleuth, would have been more than willing) to read through it and post direct links to the pages where Taurus posts appear so I could delete them.
I also made the suggestion to delete the whole thread altogether (very speedy and efficient). I didn’t get a response on that, but eventually some other moderator must have done it anyway, because the thread is gone and I’m not the one who deleted it. Like I said, very speedy and efficient (though the downside is if some of the posts were actually interesting, they’d be lost)
P.S: regs, you guys can give Sleuth a break. He went the wrong way about making his point (a valid point, I admit, but the wrong way nevertheless). Now that things are (at least partially) fixed, he should be a happy camper and start acting civilized again (if he doesn’t you can start bashing him like you do Taurus - just kidding). And Sleuth, please don’t troll like Taurus again (even if it’s for a just cause). That was very inappropriate.
No problems, the site needed some organization and renewed moderation. it was becoming a mess. there’s still some problems around i notice, but i guess all this will eventually work itself out.
i did go about it the “wrong” way, but i dont think it was wrong in that something needed to be done. its like cutting thru the red tape. bjarne and the rest were getting bogged down by it, extended avoidance of problems, the site went downhill fast, no one wanted to really try to touch it let alone fix the problems. im not saying im some kind of erin brockovich, but i felt someone needed to make enough noise about it to coerce action. but i am sorry for having to literally write things that i personally didnt mean towards certain people. so in that sense i apologize.
as for trolling like taurus....i dont understand what you mean by that? explain plz.
What you did for a time, and what Taurus does, is called trolling, though some people sometimes incorrectly call it “spamming”, which it’s not. Spamming will usually have some commercial incentive in it (often URLs too). And flooding is when you post things over and over again, or when you make extremely long (and usually aimless) posts.
I notice you don’t post as “Sleuth” anymore. Is your name banned? Would you like it to be unbanned? If so, and if you promise to act like a civilized poster, I can ask Bjarne to unban it.
lol, you’re kidding arent you? i have never trolled on here. unless youre taking a swipe at my genuine attempts at posting comments, which sometimes run several paragraphs. but i wouldnt call that trolling. its just me expressing a genuine thoughtful comment. actual trolling would be more like junk comments that take up pages etc. you have me mistaken for someone else who probably used the Sleuth name. I am the original Sleuth who has used many guest names dating back april '05. and who already has a couple of registered accounts.
as for unbanning the name Sleuth, i dont care about that, i just used that name at the time to get a point across.
btw, i harbor no bad feelings here, just surprised by what you said.
again, the Sleuth persona was just something i used in order to coerce the moderators/admin to do something about the forum. other than that, i post 90% genuine thoughtful comments under other guest names which i am entitled to do rather than use my registered account name.
as for the name being banned, i dont think it is anyway. there were/are people on here who register users names under different email addresses to stop them from using it, or, the name got banned. i dunno. but sleuth can die i have no attachment to it.
