Scott Guest | Do you think that humanity is inherrently good or evil? And that both can be found to some degree in everything? If you are Christian and reading this, keep in mind that it is not your faith I am attacking. And not liberal Christians, either.
You gotta laugh at the whole Christian persecution complex with the evangelicals, right now. It’s not persecution to not receive special rights, like you own the country, or are the only ones whose opinions matter. Keeping God out of school and government or not being allowed to place a giant Ten Commandments monument outside a government building does not count as discrimination. Discrimination is facing physical violence based off your faith, or being denied work or shit like those church bombings in Norway. And you still have the right to send your kid to Christian institutions, if you want him to learn your ways. Kids also have the right to private prayer TO THEMSELVES, in school. It’s just not public doctrine or anything.
God has no place in things like school or politics, for obvious reasons:
a) Theres no proof for religion. Politics is about issues that are going on in the real world. Religion is about personal beliefs and stories of creation.
b) What if you had people taking 'sides' in politics because of the religion that party agreed with? That would mean people were elected for totally the wrong reasons.
c) If politics and religion were mixed, you’d get religious morals interfering with laws... Religious morals do have thier purposes, but not everyone will follow the same ones. For example, you can’t expect an Atheist (say) to comply with Muslim morals, etc.
The Bible and religious morality are things that can be used for either good, or evil, depending upon whose using them. Don’t get me wrong. Religious people and institutions have done a lot of good in poor communities and such, but MAN has selectively and hypocritically quoted the “Good Book” (which is very based on personal interpretation) and misused his faith for evil purposes or to justify evil things a lot through history. The oppression of blacks and slavery, the oppression of women, anti-Semitism and overall religious intolerance, homophobia, the “flat Earth” theory, genocide, war, animal sacrifices, book burnings and censorship, the Crusades, the list goes on. The Bible can be interpreted to support or attack all kinds of things, if you want to pick out certain scriptures to that means. It seems that gays, atheists, and Muslims are the top targets nowadays. The Churches are irresponsible for not condemning self-righteous hypocrisy and hatred among it’s “faithful”. Point being, though, that somewhere along the line, most logical rational human beings should think to differentiate the bullshit from the positive messages and what’s important and not simply take the Church’s words as blind authority, without question.
And don’t even go to the arguement that “separation of Church and state is a lie”. Either way, I don’t care. If the Constitution said “Niggers ain’t people and are 2nd class citizens, would we take that seriously? No, most logical intelligent people would realize that there obviously needed to be some kind of Amendment.
Basically, the nation belongs to EVERY (keyword here) goddamned redblooded American. Not just those of Christian persuasion. PERIOD. So, quit whining about preferential treatment. You know NOTHING of real discrimination.

as a member on this forum ive recived quite the contraversy from some peoplewho are christian, and thay state that “i wil burn in hell for not worshipping my Lord”, now as far as im concerned thats a threat in my eyes, and i take things like that (bullcrap or not) quite seriously. Christianity is the dominating religion, yes, but that doesnt mean that we ALL must worship god.
im not one for a particular religion, i respect them all, but when i am being told that i MUST worship god or die it disgusts me that they can actually have the right to say that to my face.

Scott Guest | They don’t sound like real and true Christians, anyway, man. Christians aren’t supposed to go around telling people they’ll “burn in hell” and being hateful. People are such retards.

Scott Guest | LMAO. I’ve heard that comparison before. Shit’s about too damn true. What gets me is, how many of them throw around the term “religious people”, instead of just saying Christians, when you know that’s the only people that they speak of. Not realizing “religious people” is a broad and universal terminology, notspecific to only Christians. It’s like they’re in denial that an outside world exists outside of their pretty little boxes. lol

The wad Guest | Well SCOTT interesting opening statement:
However both Christians and Muslims believe in the same things: Don’t know what Jews believe in although I think it is cash and politics.
The 10 commandments sent to Moses on (was it) Mt Olive:-
Thou shall not kill. :- Polititions do not believe this to be true. Polititions believe they can kill and persecute anyone who do not conform to their way of thinking. They think they can kill innocent people and get away with it with immence cover up operations. Then go out take cocaine and get sucked off by slags and gays.
Thou shall not lie:Need I say more.
Honour thy Mother and Father: Ive no Idea about this one.
There are more however pick up the BIBLE old testemant and read and work out for yourself.
I have made my own mind up
Politics=satans work.

Weasel . Guest | Here is my problem with the ten commandments- why exactly are there 10?
You simply do not need ten. The list of ten commandments was artificially and deliberately inflated to get it up to ten. Here’s what happened:
About 5,000 years ago a bunch of religious and political hustlers got together to try to figure out how to control people and keep them in line. They knew people were basically stupid and would believe anything they were told, so they announced that God had given them some commandments, up on a mountain, when no one was around.
Well let me ask you this- when they were making this shit up, why did they pick 10? Why not 9 or 11? I’ll tell you why- because 10 sound official. Ten sounds important! Ten is the basis for the decimal system, it’s a decade, it’s a psychologically satisfying number (the top ten, the ten most wanted, the ten best dressed). So having ten commandments was really a marketing decision! It is clearly a bullshit list. It’s a political document artificially inflated to sell better. I will now show you how you can reduce the number of commandments and come up with a list that’s a little more workable and logical. I am going to use the Roman Catholic version because those were the ones I was taught as a little boy.
Let’s start with the first three:
I AM THE LORD THY GOD THOU SHALT NOT HAVE STRANGE GODS BEFORE ME
THOU SHALT NOT TAKE THE NAME OF THE LORD THY GOD IN VAIN
THOU SHALT KEEP HOLY THE SABBATH
Right off the bat the first three are pure bullshit. Sabbath day? Lord’s name? strange gods? Spooky language! Designed to scare and control primitive people. In no way does superstitious nonsense like this apply to the lives of intelligent civilized humans in the 21st century. So now we’re down to 7. Next:
HONOR THY FATHER AND MOTHER
Obedience, respect for authority. Just another name for controlling people. The truth is that obedience and respect shouldn’t be automatic. They should be earned and based on the parent’s performance. Some parents deserve respect, but most of them don’t, period. You’re down to six.
Now in the interest of logic, something religion is very uncomfortable with, we’re going to jump around the list a little bit.
THOU SHALT NOT STEAL
THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS
Stealing and lying. Well actually, these two both prohibit the same kind of behavior- dishonesty. So you don’t really need two you combine them and call the commandment “thou shalt not be dishonest”. And suddenly you’re down to 5.
And as long as we’re combining I have two others that belong together:
THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTRY
THOU SHALT NOT COVET THY NEIGHBOR’S WIFE
Once again, these two prohibit the same type of behavior. In this case it is marital infidelity. The difference is- coveting takes place in the mind. But I don’t think you should outlaw fantasizing about someone else’s wife because what is a guy gonna think about when he’s waxing his carrot? But, marital infidelity is a good idea so we’re gonna keep this one and call it “thou shalt not be unfaithful”. And suddenly we’re down to four.
But when you think about it, honesty and infidelity are really part of the same overall value so, in truth, you could combine the two honesty commandments with the two fidelity commandments and give them simpler language, positive language instead of negative language and call the whole thing “thou shalt always be honest and faithful” and we’re down to 3.
THOU SHALT NOT COVET THY NEIGHBOR"S GOODS
This one is just plain fuckin' stupid. Coveting your neighbor’s goods is what keeps the economy going! Your neighbor gets a vibrator that plays “o come o ye faithful”, and you want one too! Coveting creates jobs, so leave it alone. You throw out coveting and you’re down to 2 now- the big honesty and fidelity commandment and the one we haven’t talked about yet:
THOU SHALT NOT KILL
Murder. But when you think about it, religion has never really had a big problem with murder. More people have been killed in the name of god than for any other reason. All you have to do is look at Northern Ireland, Cashmire, the Inquisition, the Crusades, and the World Trade Center to see how seriously the religious folks take thou shalt not kill. The more devout they are, the more they see murder as being negotiable. It depends on who’s doin the killin' and who’s gettin' killed. So, with all of this in mind, I give you my revised list of the two commandments:
Thou shalt always be honest and faithful to the provider of thy nookie.
&
Thou shalt try real hard not to kill anyone, unless of course they pray to a different invisible man than you.
Two is all you need; Moses could have carried them down the hill in his fuckin' pocket. I wouldn’t mind those folks in Alabama posting them on the courthouse wall, as long as they provided one additional commandment:
Thou shalt keep thy religion to thyself.

Scott Guest | "However both Christians and Muslims believe in the same things: Don’t know what Jews believe in although I think it is cash and politics.
"
wad, I’m fully aware that the 3 mainline religions are all basically the same god and many of the beliefs are the same. Christians, Jews and Muslims are still far from everybody, though. And many casual Christians/average Americans today don’t care to think that way, or look at that. In this Christian dominated and oft-arrogant society, the word “God” is seen as Jesus, excluding other beliefs.
I agree about politics being crooked. Don’t feel like getting into that too much, though. Anyway, regardless of what the commandments say (and weasel pretty much already covered anything I would say, anyway), placing that monument is still disrespectful to others. Too many think patriotism and faith means a superiority complex to others, so the last thing we need is seeing more “God in School” to help enforce more division and enforce their belief that they somehow own this country. Sorry, I’m just babbling, now. I’m tired. Loooooong workday. :|

Nyarlathotep Rep: 12 Joined: 26 Jun 2005 Posts: 6,920 OFFLINE | Um. I don’t like gay people. I don’t like liberals like Ted Kennedy. I am a Christian. Muslims believe that people should be killed for not worshipping Allah. The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) is all for Muslims. They are for them in prisons, and in schools. In a seventh grade school somewhere (in the US) the students are being tought, and are quoting the Khorran(sp?) as though it is fact. Taking down the Ten commandments is separation of church and state (duh). I won’t/don’t go around telling people that they will burn in Hell. What have you got to lose by believing the Bible? The biggest religion is Catholicism. Which is only above Atheism. I don’t believe you should worship the Satan. YOu should not mess with demons, they ARE real believe it or not.
Abortion is wrong, its the killing of innocent babies. Being gay is wrong. Its in the Bible, so I pretty much believe it, I wouldn’t like gays whether or not is was in the Bible. What is the significance of the name 'Tyreaus Rhade”?
What are you attacking/sayingm Scott?
