The Smashing Pumpkins have confirmed reports they are reuniting, and singer Billy Corgan is already writing material for a new album.

The rockers, who split in 2000, previously hinted they were considering getting back together for the Chicago rock festival Lollapalooza this summer.

And although original bassist D’Arcy Wretzky is proving elusive, her replacement Melissa Auf Der Maur wants to join her former bandmates.

Wretzky’s replacement tells MTV, “My services are there for him whenever he needs them.

“I love the Pumpkins, and to play those songs again would be nothing but fun for me. It was a big part of my life.

“The coolest thing would be if D’Arcy was around, but I don’t know where she’s at and I don’t think (Corgan or drummer Jimmy Chamberlain) do either.

“But I feel very comfortable being second best."

System of a Down guitarist/vocalist Daron Malakian will record a solo album once his band wraps up touring their hit albums 'Mezmerize/Hypnotize.'

The rocker claims he has written enough material to fill numerous CDs - and he hopes to surprise his fans by moving in a different direction with his first solo release.

He says, “If I wanted to, I could release 10 solo records tomorrow. It will probably be something electronic."

Wanna know the crap what. I like Serg’s voice better than Daron’s. It scares me when they start doing solo album then they think they can so go off and do there own thing and if SOAD splits, this fat boy will freaking break down and cry like a kick puppy. Yeah, that is my views anyway.

yeah, im not sure how i feel about it either. i definitely can’t wait to hear Daron’s solo work. but at the same time i really don’t want his album(s) to do well. because then he might decide to leave SOAD and that would suck major donkey dong.

rock on dudes!! in my opinion METALLICA is the best! i also like many of the groups listed in the first post, SOAD is awesome, guns n roses, alice in chains and many others (i didnt read all)
