Ellie05 Guest | Well yeah in the 70’s more disco songs were making the charts but that didn’t make disco the most brilliant form of music of the time. I am just saying that popularity at the moment should not be used in an argument like this.

voodo Guest | why do people compare disco to rap.

Well actually there is one none black rapper I like, Mike Shinoda, he’s pretty awesome, I love Fort Minor. ---

Ellie05 Guest | I was referring to Glam metal, which was by far the most popular form of “metal” in the 80’s. I would consider Van Halen to be in this group. Great guitarist, just too bad he had to join a band IMO. I should have been more specific because some of the greatest metal ever came out of the 80’s. It is just that it all took a back seat to hair bands.

I know but what I’m saying is that what he said was right, the songs that make the top charts are songs that white people can understand (not racist true seeing as they ae the majority in the U.S.) ---

kris Guest | Rappers don’t sing about important issues and their lives probably aren’t as bad as they say. The songs about rapper’s lives are not even optimistic. People where I live who listen to rap have basically good lives and want to feel like their emotions of insecurity are justified. Some rock songs that are about important thins are “Won’t Get Fooled Again” by The Who and “Free Will” by Rush. I think people who like rap just can’t wrap their minds around complicated things. Listen to Progressive rock and you will see that rock takes skill and is deep.
