If Nintendo wants this to be a great product that will sell well, they should at least change the name back to REVOLUTION in north america and europe.

well whatever but i just find revolution a better idea than wii...
doubt that will change cause science does prove that the first intuition is normally the best one...

Well to tell you the truth when I first saw this name I was so in shock I had no idea what to think. I was thinking what the hell.

Then I started thinking that it actually is not that bad of a name. And it’s actually a good name for Nintendo to pick.

One the logo for Wii is pretty sweet. I mean it looks awesome. And on paper it doesn’t look bad at all. But most people just don’t like the pronunciation. Wii is not the best word to sound out in the mouth. It sounds bad to the ears. That is the only reason people don’t like it.

But if you think about it Wii means everyone. The Wii is for everyone and is an appropiate name. So while hardcore gamers might not like it but the casual gamers will think that at least it’s not this thing over here that looks like a giant. The Wii will go over a lot better with the casual gamers. While Wii may not go over well with some hardcore gamers it will go well with casual.

Also in Japan ii means good. So whatev.

Now a lot of people are definetly not going to like this. I know that. But when has a name for a console ever been cool. I mean Playstation is the cornyiest name for a console ever created. It’s just retarded. But because it’s been around for so long no one cares anymore. Most people don’t call it the Playstation. They call it the PS1 or PS2. Get over it. Then there is the Xbox. Really box should never be describing a console. It’s stupid. And X makes it sound like it has died years ago. Just stupid. But it has become brand name and no one cares.

So now we have Wii. It sounds weird. But no weirder than Ipod, Napster, Google, or things like that. Just another unique name. Wii will soon become a brand name and no one will care. Or if you really are ticked call it the NWS, or Nintendo Wii System.

So really you’ll be skeptical for a while but I’m here to tell you Wii is no different from other weird or corny names accepted. Plus this will make nothing different for the games or controls.

So really just get over it. I’m content with it. I really don’t care. All I care is that Wii looks good in a logo and it does. Appearance comes before sound.
