Many people believe that blu-ray will fail as it is nearly double the price of Hd-Dvd for around the same technology.
If this does fail then sony will most likly fail because of there blu ray, not hd-dvd drive. --- I am the Soda warrior

I belive the consumer wants add-ons to game consoles to play hd-dvd. and blu-ray players that cut every possible corner to lower cost, and shares its connections with a gaming device.
that is what I’m connecting to my 60 inch plasma or 54 inch lcd. ---

first, the 360 has a regular DVD-rom drive. second, Bluray and HD-DVD is no where near the same, i.e the blue laser which is so much thinner than the red frequency lasers which is one of the major reasons why a blu ray disc can hold so much. 54gb... one disc in a protective case. nice. ---

xbox360 is getting a hd-dvd add on,
so you can chose to have it or not.
with the ps3 they force blu-ray on you, they don’t give you a choice like with the xbox --- I am the Soda warrior

sony forced blu ray on you becasue ther didnt give you the choice of having a normal dvd player or a blu ray one.
xbox360 is giving you that choice --- I am the Soda warrior

it’s called intergration. more universal. you could say if HD-DVD wins, then SONY can also launch a seperate HD-DVD player, just like microsoft. ---

The Blu-ray discs are also a lot more durable, as you can scratch them with steel wool and they will still play. I think Blu-ray has the advantage here. But about the pricing issue, I think more people will buy the $600 PS3 (I could be wrong. It’s just what I think and most people will probably disagree with me), so the pricing is about the same. ---
Next console (hopefully)=

and moore said ps3 is forcing blu ray on people but thats really not the case.
blu ray for ps3 unlike hd dvd for 360 will play games.
the cost of one 56 gig disc costs $20 which is pretty cheap.
if ps3 didnt have blu ray then it wouldnt be a next gen console.
ps2 upgraded from a cd drive to a dvd drive.
this time the ps3 upgrades from a dvd drive to a blu ray drive.
360 didnt upgrade at all. --- Dont worry, be happy

Not exactly, the PS3 plays regular DVD’s on regular televisions. If you don’t want the whole HD thing, then Sony isn’t forcing anything. ---

I’d advise you to uncheck the “Email me when replies are made to this thread” or the “Allow other people to see my email address”. This is because people may potentially be able to see your email address, and people just send lots of spam to your e-mail account. ---
