The Name Guest | First off, I’d like to say that I am no professor at some fancy university. I am just a high school kid who sat down at the science building during lunch and pondered this question. You dont need a bible or a college degree to answer this question, you only need logic. And it would really be cool if you stop reading and answer the question yourself.
Ok, um where do i start? This question does not disprove the existence of God but neither is it an “irrelevent” question. It is a great question. And it has an answer.
The answer is yes. Yes, God can make a rock so heavy that he cannot lift it.
Right now you’re probably thinking, “Oh, but if God can make a rock so big that he cannot lift it than that must mean he’s not all-powerful”.
At first I thought this was a good point. But first, ask yourself these following questions:
Can God kill himself?
Can God lose his powers?
Can God make someone else more powerful than himself?
If God can do anything then he must be able to do those things.
So, IF God kills himself is he still all powerful? Of course not.
-BUT before he killed himself he was all-powerful.
Ok, back to the rock question,
Can God make a rock so heavy that he himself cannot lift it?
A)if he cant, that means he cannot do everything.
 if he can, that means he’s not all-powerful.
The answer is yes. God is all-powerful but after he makes the heavy rock he isnt anymore.
Ok, wow, I’m so smart. You have the answer now but i still wanna say a few more things.
The question you should be asking yourself is Why haven’t you answered the question? Why did you have to wait for a high schooler to answer it for you?
Of course, there are many reasons but i think the most common one is because you don’t want to answer the question

Why werent you able to answer the question?
Duh, you’re an Atheist. Why would you want to answer it? In your mind you believe you’ve disproven God’s existence. You hate God, right? Why give him a chance?
Next, the God-believers(majority Christian)

An “irrelevent” question? What is so irrelevent about it? Do you know why you think it’s irrelevant? Because that’s what your fellow God-believer told you and you would believe everything he says. And you dont like the idea that you’re wrong. How ironic huh? You go out in public telling everybody they’re wrong but when someone goes up to your face and tells you “your wrong”. you dont like it. So, instead of fighting the question, you run away from it. What a coward.
My point is, your minds' are too closed. You’re all prejudiced against each others' thoughts. Prejudice is like a cage that limits your knowledge of things. And please dont ignore the good questions. | |

hmmm, honestly i don’t go off telling people their religion is wrong cuz i like to learn about different cultures and religions,i do find it wrong when religions,(not all) go and point fingers at eachother saying they r wrong and if you don’t believe in what we believe ur going to hell or some thing, which is WRONG. i find it horrible how other people can discriminate others cuz they don’t have the same belifes... i’m a christian, i believe in god and yet i don’t judge people, because i too have personal belifes, like what if god himself has been learning from his/her mistakes, no one is perfect, so what ever.... | |

God created the boulder therefore it is his OWN power and his OWN might and no one elses
and none can reach his level therefore he is the almighty and all powerful
and he can choose either to be able to lift it or not, it is a matter of choice and not if he is stronger or not
for his strength is his power and might
not his physical feats

Remember this is a “Can” question. So if i ask,“Can you eat manure?", the answer, of course, is yes but that doesnt mean you will eat manure, does it?

Listen carefully. imagine(IMAGINE)(I’m not saying that he did, ok?) that God made a rock so heavy that he could not lift it.
If he cannot lift it then that must mean he can’t do everything, right?
So, if he cant do everything then that must mean he is not all-powerful.
Do you understand?
Let me repeat that for you just incase:
God can do anything but if he makes a rock so big that he cannot lift it then(only then) he cannot do everything so if he can’t do everything he is not all powerful.
See?
I did not overlook anything, but if you think i did then I’d be happy for you to show me.
