Umm.. I rap... I’m educated... I’m a classically trained musician... I can read AND compose sheet music... Rap is an art form just like metal. If you did your research you’d realize that rap music actually derived from the opera... I belive the German opera, but I don’t recall precisely. But anyway, there were segments in opera where the players would begin to perform using rhythmic speech patters... the start of rap. Next to say that it is hard to scream is very true, but 95% of those people vocal chords are severely damaged, regardless of what you think. Just ask a vocal coach. I could negate every point made against rap music in this post, but frankly, I don’t have the time. I encourage you, however to explore beyond what you hear on the radio. Radio is a business, thus they will play music in accordance with the current trend. It’s one thing to not like a particular genre of music, but if you choose to form a critique, at least suspend your opinions and keep your criticism objective. Peace!

I don’t like rap, but I respect it as a musical form. I highly doubt it was inspired by opera though. I don’t listen to mainstream stuff. I turn my tastes towards underground metal bands like Deep-Pression, Be Persecuted, Wehmut, Forgotten Woods, and Woods of Ypres, as well as many more. You are the first person here (besides that asshole Nate) that also likes classical.

Both TRUE rock and TRUE rap talk about the same things. I have looked at the underground rap, instead of the pop cultures crap and noticed that it is pretty much the same as rock, but sang in a different form. Rock and Rap are brothers in music afterall from what music historians say, and from what I have seen, that is absolutely correct.
Let’s all face it... All pop culture music sucks.

hey not all rap is bad and not all rock is bad. ive liked both and really they are not comparable since they are two completely different genres. All i can say is that most artists today and most bands today are doing a terrific job screwing up the foundation that the great rock legends and the great rappers laid down. its really the sound that appeals to you, and you cant let ignorant people tell you that your preferable genre sucks, because its YOUR opinion. like what you like!

Most of us are defending our own tastes in music. Rappers are making fun of rock, so we are making fun back. As for us being losers, that does not apply to me, considering I am on the web 10 minutes per day (sometimes more for homework purposes) and I have a girlfriend right now.
