I’m just saying, the amount of skill and intelligence in Rock/Metal out performs Rap on EVERY aspect. Therefore there is no real debate. And that my friend is why rappers don’t deserve my respect.

That said, just because you think it sounds like wank, doesn’t mean it’s bad. The most highly trained musicians in the world (generally regarded as Jazz Fusion players) only respect 3 other genres for their musical and technical prowess: Jazz Fusion, Classical, and Death Metal.

There is no getting away from the fact that extreme metal contains some of the most astonishing talents in the entire music business, and I for one believe you can’t begin to truely appreciate extreme metal unless you’re a musician of some experience. The technicality is mindblowing, even if it isn’t to your taste. Don’t dismiss it because you can’t begin to understand it.

Oh, and Destinyguy, don’t get screaming, a la Hardcore Punk, confused with Death and Black Metal vocals. There’s an infinitely large gap between the two, and they sound nothing alike. Extreme metal vocals, such as the deep growls of Mike Akerfedlt, command respect and require technique. The screaming that comes out of shitty emo hardcore bands, is as you say, talentless bullshit. But extreme metal vocals are not one and the same.
