I would have to differ here. Not all gods from history continue to be worshipped, but you’ll find - depending on religion and culture - a lot are

Don’t you mean were enslaved by Europeans? European imperialism ended well before either you or I were born Unless you are speaking of the residential schools of more recent history...but as SA-X isn’t Native I hardly think it applies.

True a lot of people continue to follow religion as they were raised....the same also goes for most Protestants, and people of other religions.

No actually. I refer to people as they name themselves. Those who engage in witchcraft call both males and females “witches”. Reason being? Warlock means “oath breaker”. It was never a term actually applied by those who practiced witchcraft .

anyways I did see where you got the oathbreaker from but it also says that teh word could have come from a norse word which means caller of spirits and other things like that...

however I guess what you are saying is correct if you take it from the people who practice wiccan’s point of view...

Hmmm I didn’t know about the norse word. Now I’ve learned something - yayz!

Now a disclaimer: I am not a witch or wiccan, I just happen to have done extensive research on it as well as talked to both witches and wiccans.

Anyhow - did you know that actually witchcraft is not a religion but a “practice”? Wicca on the other hand is a religion. Not all witches are Wiccan and not all Wiccans are witches.

Witches can actually be non-religious - or be a part of any religion. I’ve even heard of “Christian witches”.

But yes I see what you are saying by the definition. Those outside of “the craft” have historically called male practioners by a different name such as “warlock” or other terms like sorceror, necromancer, wizard, etc.

But I choose to use the terms that a group of people call themselves - mainly because it is often more accurate.

The Catholic church pretty much wrote the bible... they decided what went into it and what got excluded... they even changed a few things in the bible as well... one of those things was adding in the devil in certain areas where they said hey look at this, someone did something evil here, it must have been the work of the devil...
