Well I prefer Scorpion over Ryu because he isn’t like Ryu, a stock character. Ryu story is just like most steroytpe characters. Guy who likes to fight, wants to be the strongest spends alot of time training, master was killed, pretty much the same thing. I prefer Scorpion because of his story and the fact that he’s just badass.
Scorpion’s story is interesting, his entire clan was massacred, his wife and son was murdered. The blame for the death of his people was placed on Sub-Zero. He isn’t evil in fact many of his endings have always shown him doing something that benefits the heroes. He also doesn’t go around killing people just for the hell of it.
Yes... but Mortal Kombat has a story behind it, and all it’s characters have an in depth story. Just because it’s mortal kombat doesn’t mean that all the contestants are rutheless killers.

actually now tat I think about it that story isn’t that original either (common in asian cartoons and movies)

Well the difference between him and those other characters is the fact that he kills the guy who supposedly killed his clan. If I remember correctly Scorpion killed Sub-Zero in the first game.
