Not really, alot of the story and style is pretty American. Also, not many of the characters are actually Asian. Most of the humans are American.

Sub-Zero and Scorpion are WHITE. Also, fighting for honor is NOT just an Asian thing. Being in Hollywood is far from Asian. Thundergods don’t just exist in Asian cultures. Also, most Asian cultures in China don’t have thundergods.
The Liu Kang was killed in Deadly Alliance so lost his spot as the main character.
Those “attack names” are NOT attack names. Those are jibberish and crazy phrases the AMERICAN creators kept yelling when they were testing and playing the games against each other. They added them in for fun.
Centuars are not Asian. Also, those fighting styles are from ALL OVER the world, not just from Asia.
Asian would be more like monsters, collecting monsters, and non-white fighting.

But shouting out attack is in most anime cartoons. and they made american and black character for diversity (they need to apeal to some of the minorities)

MOST of the humans are AMERICAN. Sonya, Jax, Cage, and so on.
They DO NOT yell out names of attacks. Those are gibberish battle cries that the developers used to yell when playing such as the famous phrase “Toasty!"
That is definitely not Asian.

Lui Kang was chinese...
Ninjas didn’t Originate in Japan it was Asia in general. Anyways as far as the character’s ethincy goes... remember, they don’t have Japan or America, it’s Earthrelm
