Ok, I am a huge rock fan. I listen to mostly alternative rock and hard rock. However, I have had many black friends and I respect and listen to rappers like Eminem, Tupac Shakur, N.W.A and have immense respect for Nas and Rakims lyrics plus Tupacs and N.W.A’s, so I’m not a racist OK! Lets face it Rakim can really make a lyric seem amazing.
Now if you are talking about rap sngs like Let the Rhythm Hit Em' (Eric B and Rakim), Shed So Many Tears (2pac), The World is Yours (nas) and that awesome verse by Ice Cube in Straight Outta Compton etc. than rap lyrically, may have a hold on rock. But listen to Desolation Row (Bob Dylan), Time (Roger Waters) and (if you can understand them ) you’ll realise that rock isn’t jst screaming.
It really makes me angry, these rap supporters making comments about rock that are entirely untrue and degrading like “rock is no talent all you do is scream with a guitar”, excuse me, FUCK OFF! That pisses me off heaps!
Yo, Listen up homies,
Now you may not know me,
But I’ve got a story to tell,
About how life before stardom was living hell,
Ok here we go,
I used to sell drugs on the side,
Wait, I used to sell drugs for a living,
So I could provide,
A life for my daughter,
So she didn’t have to face the day to day slaughter,
So I could buy her all the things that I bought her,
I buy champagne, expensive Nike’s,
I used to rob banks just to pay the bill for our water,
My homies and I used to busk, 9 to 5,
From strength to strength, trying to strive to earn a quarter,
Its a start right?
Hmmm, all those days of listening to ACDC and Led Zeppelin have really paid off,
Now I write better lyrics than 50 Cent, Lil Jon, Flo Rida and all those other “top ten” losers.
Lil Wayne - Gansta Grills Dedication 2 (WTF!)
Or his throat from 'em
These lil niggaz thinkin they fresh, get whipped out ya clothes youngin
I got it all but I’ll beat you like you stole sumthin
My bitch trippin, she say I treat her like my old woman
I tell the bitch I’m probably better off with no woman
Yea, I get that brand new money
I’m the boss bitch, I’m touchin every dollar thats comin
Stop playin, I kno wat I’m doin
Let me get 'em
Right...? WTF! is that
Yep rap sure is better than rock. Far superior, I mean it takes real talent man. Especially rap since about 1998.
Now here’s some Smiths (Morrissey)
A punctured bicycle
On a hillside desolate
Will nature make a man of me yet ?
When in this charming car
This charming man
Why pamper life’s complexity
When the leather runs smooth
On the passenger seat ?
I would go out tonight
But I haven’t got a stitch to wear
This man said “It’s gruesome that someone so handsome should care”
OH, thats so shit compared to Lil Wayne! NOT!
Now onto the music,
Listen to: This Charming Man - The Smiths
Highway to Hell - ACDC
Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
Compare this to those stupid rap songs with the samples an the electrinic beats.
Come on, technically rock is better, musically it is way better and lyrically, in most cases, in general YES!
