At least he didn’t use the words gay, fag, or homosexual in that post...
Back on topic, I agree some of the greatest singers out there are rock. Look at Dee Snider from Twisted Sister and Rob Halford from Judas Priest.
dont worry dude, he is just trying to cover up his own homosexuality.
I listen to rap when I feel like dancing or walking through the neighborhood, and I listen to rock when I feel like jumping up and down and playing the air guitar. =/
Destiny Guy said on some other pages that Rap always makes it to the top to the charts and never Rock.
That is not true. Because you like Rap, you only see the Rap music on the charts. But if you listen to both like me, you see both rock and rap on the charts. And dude, seriously, Rock DOES take more skill than rap. I tried to rap before, and could do it well, but not perfect. When I started my rock band, however, It was nearly impossible. In rap, mainly it was talking very fast, and that does take practice. Rock, though, you need to pluck the damn strings so damn fast that it is nearly impossible, and don’t let me get started on headbanging, dude. It hurts like hell most of the time, and you need to do it for like 10 minutes strength for one fuckin' song. The lyrics, are the hardest. Even though the lyrics of rock and rap are EXTREMELY CLOSE, Rock was harder, you can rhyme, but in rock, you cannot send the message directly, but through really good symbolism, that is why you don’t understand what most rockers are talking about most of the time, or at least good rock. Rap, sends it out directly, which is easier. So if you wanted proof for what needed more skill, that was it.
Ummmm try mixing your own beats using the complex mechanisms that professional DJs use.
Try rhyming off the top of your head and keep going until you lose your train of thought.
Try writing songs for the public to listen to and even though its real life you put up with the discrimination from the rockers.
Try selling mixtapes and convincing people that your rap music is worth listening to.
Try coming from a place where money is hard to come across and end up making it on the charts.
Don’t try to say rock is harder to do than rap because ALL MUSICIANS, ROCKERS AND RAPPERS, TAKE HOURS AND HOURS AND WORK FULL TIME PRODUCING THEIR MUSIC !!
Rockers have no respect for any music but their own. Im a rapper and its fucking sickening to see all these people put down rap when they have no fucking idea what its about.

ALL RIGHT, WHAT I SAID EARLIER, I LIKE BOTH RAP AND ROCK! Allright? I have tried both, and I am saying which I found to be hardest! yes, they both take hours to make, that is how long it took me. Besides, rockers are only hatred for rap because rappers always say “Rock is gay!" (They are just as hatred towards rock as we are towards rap.) Even though they have not listened to one single “good” rock song. They listened to crap like Backstreet Boys, and Green Day, which is not even real rock. Most rockers have tried rap and hated it (besides people like me) because they are more used to heavier music, because rap is very soft. Rockers love distortion, loud singing, and heaviness overall. Rap, to rockers, is just talking. Rappers don’t like rock because it can sometimes be disturbing and depressing, or can give you headaches from the heaviness. I NEVER SAID RAP TOOK NO SKILL! IT DOES, BUT I JUST THINK ROCK TAKES MORE PRACTICE TO PUT TOGETHER GOOD MUSIC BECAUSE OF THE MOVEMENTS OF THE BODY, MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, AND SINGING.
Your an idiot , there are more topics about rap being gay then there are about rock being gay and us rappers just sit here and listen to all the rap bashing and try to defend our music and I haven’t seen anyone talk about the flaws rock has.
I’ve listened to slipknot, rammstein, insane clown posse, my chemical romance, fallout boy, ZZ top, Pink Floyd ... all those bands.
I never liked rock and most of you rockers have never heard a GOOD rap song. So dont talk about something that ya’ll know nothing about.
and obviously rap wasn’t your thing and thats fine but this topic should be locked because no one can have any respect for other people’s perspective and everyone is stereotyping.
Ya, one more thing, and I am not putting rap down (i listen 2 both.) A lot of rap, (NOT ALL) is not even written by the rapper. It is usually written by the company, so when they rap about when they were in jail, it never really even happened. I don’t like that kind of rap, but rap where it actually came from the heart, is excellent. The same with rock, a lot of rock (like Backstreet Boys and Green Day) are not even written by the group.
Both music trys to get at the same point, but in different ways. The point, pointing at bad things in the world.
Rap tries to show it through the point of view from the actual rapper.
Rock shows it through anger, and through symbolism (such as the Slayer song, “Raining Blood” which sounds like it is talking about gore, but is talking about the horrors of dictatorship and communism
Ummm theres ALOT of rappers that write their own shit, I agree I don’t like the fake rappers but if thats what everyone is trying to say, then be more specific.
There are alot of political rap songs too like Brendas Got a Baby by 2pac, which is talking about the long term effects of teenage pregnancy.
Also, you say rock shows things through anger and symbolism, most rappers have written their best shit while they were pissed off, and rap is all symbolism because you use metaphors and you compare things to other things and you use words to symbolise things while making it rhyme at the same time.

I do understand your POV, I respect that, but keep in mind, we rockers hear just as much rock bashing. But you could be right because there are more rock fans then rap.
Both music forms are in competition, but listen to both, and you could see that both are closely related.
y dont u like rock n e way?
I do not know where you think I am putting rap down, but yoo r the idiot if you think I m putting it down.

When I mean anger, I mean through intensity of the distorted guitars and loud singing.
I’ve listened to slipknot, rammstein, insane clown posse, my chemical romance, fallout boy, ZZ top
That is exactly what I m talking about when it comes to bad rock, those guys. THEY SUCK! Pink Floyd is good though. I can understand how u dont like them. Their lyrics are strange. Most people have listened to Pink Floyd (both rockers and rappers) have enjoyed the song Another Brick in the Wall part 2. That song is what inspired hip hop. Read the article on wikipedia.
Y R we even arguing about this? Both music is great music, and have heart in them. Both forms are powerful in their own ways, and if you listen, the entire layout of rock/metal and rap are EXTREMELY close.

Dude, rock and rap have the same outline like that asdf guy said before. Look up a rock song’s lyrics online. For example, Raining Blood by Slayer, like that guy said as well, you can see all of the symbolism.
Also, both music are even when you you come to putting down the music. It just seems Rap is put down more because rock is more popular.

I dont like rock for my own reasons which Im not going to say because I dont want to spark an argument. I do respect rock tho.
I know they’re closely related I just dont like the fact that people stereotype rap so much.
