Don’t try to say rock is harder to do than rap because ALL MUSICIANS, ROCKERS AND RAPPERS, TAKE HOURS AND HOURS AND WORK FULL TIME PRODUCING THEIR MUSIC !!
Rockers have no respect for any music but their own. Im a rapper and its fucking sickening to see all these people put down rap when they have no fucking idea what its about.
Uhh, okay
TRY TO LEARN HOW TO EXPAND YOUR VOICE TO A MONSTROUS YELL SIZE, OR LEARN A GUITAR BY PLUCKING RAPIDLY ( 7 STROKES A SECOND) AND NOT MAKE ONE FUCKING MISTAKE, OR LEARN HOW TO SLAM ON THE DRUMS AS HARD AS YOU CAN QUICKLY AT A GOOD RYTHYM AND ORDER, AND MIX BEATS OF YOUR OWN.
Oh yeah, so you know, you say Rock/Metal does not freestyle? It does. It is called a solo! A SOLO!

cuz you afraid to admit a couple rockers left you black and blue....
I just made that up in like two seconds....
no offence to anybody...I was just showin that its not hard to make a freestyle...I like rap and rock alike, but rock just takes more time to make songs than rap is all im sayin.
not actally if you look at lyrics to a rap song vs. a rock song the rap lyrics will often be longer with more rhymes, more poetic in a sense than a rock song
some rock songs (some) have a verse or two and repeat the chorus to much
lol, what about riding dirty? That song has a super repetitive part, They say “Trying to catch me riding dirty” like 37 times.
Everyone here also knows that all rap music videos take no talent to make. All they are are dancing girls, raining money, and that is it. rock/metal music videos take amazing amounts of talent.
Rappers are fucking corporate sellouts. That is why their music is not pure. Rap is already starting to go down in popularity. Rock has had the same popularity since it started. Rock does take more talent than rap, like a perfect murder said,

Ummm theres ALOT of rappers that write their own shit, I agree I don’t like the fake rappers but if thats what everyone is trying to say, then be more specific.
There are alot of political rap songs too like Brendas Got a Baby by 2pac, which is talking about the long term effects of teenage pregnancy.
Also, you say rock shows things through anger and symbolism, most rappers have written their best shit while they were pissed off, and rap is all symbolism because you use metaphors and you compare things to other things and you use words to symbolise things while making it rhyme at the same time.
Dude, rock and rap have the same outline like that asdf guy said before. Look up a rock song’s lyrics online. For example, Raining Blood by Slayer, like that guy said as well, you can see all of the symbolism.
Also, both music are even when you you come to putting down the music. It just seems Rap is put down more because rock is more popular.
That is not symbolism, that is a metaphor. Though metaphors are like symbolism to an extent, it is not the same that rock uses. Symbolism uses objects people and events to represent things. Raining Blood by Slayer, for example, is saying stuff like blood rains around me, and others are in pain. That is symbolizing bad government like a dynasty or commusnism.

Rock also have #1 singles. When I check, there is more rock than rap. My friends liked rap, and then after a while they started to hate it, and go to rock. Eventually, the entire school transffered from rap to rock. It is the same thing that happened to disco, it used to be more popular than rock, then went downhill. Like rap, it was a fad. Boybands were the same. Now, rappers are the boybands of today.

Solos are not rehearsed. With real rock bands, they squeeze in time for all members to make stuff up at the top of their head to play. Usually, however, if that solo is amazing, they will play that same solo the next time the play the song.
Rappers, don’t exactly freestyle, from the way I see it. When they say they freestyle, they keep replaying that same rap at all their concerts. Same as a solo. He may have made it at the top of his head, but really liked it, so kept rerapping it.

Y don’t u like rock? What did u listen 2?
Ok no, freestyling is different from the raps u see in concerts. Real freestyling is completely spontaneous and off the top of the head.
I listened to alot of rock bands, ZZ Top, Led Zepplin, Ozzy Osbourne, and more. I just don’t like it, don’t feel it.
Thats fine if you don’t feel or like rap but stop putting down something that you know nothing about ?
What rap did you listen to ? Probably something thats not even real rap, the shit you hear on the radio isn’t rap.
I jus want everyone to agree to disagree and end this pointless arguing because as I’ve said before, rockers, AND rappers spend countless hours producing their shit
By the way, as for the guitar solo thing, this definition was taken from www.dictionary.com
a musical composition or a passage or section in a musical composition written for performance by one singer or instrumentalist, with or without accompaniment

That definition refers to classical music and jazz. Solos in classical are written before hand, and because classical is the most comlex and difficult form of music to play/write, you can’t make stuff out of the top of your head, unless u r Mozart. (Mozart was able to do that). In Rock music, however (being in a rock band myself) when a song is written, a musicial may feel “a pump coming on” and ask to take a (example: 1 minute solo) and will start playing stuff out of the top of his head and play. This reserves spots to play. And like I said before, may keep the exact solo if it is phenomenal. Pink Floyd is well known for the guitarist’s solos in their songs “Another Brick in the Wall Part 2” and in “Comfortably Numb."
One more thing, I am not dissing rap, and I repeat, I am not dissing rap. I am stating my knowledge and opinions.
Whether or not you like rock/rap depends on your lifestyle. Rap is usually liked by people who have had an alright life, the way I see it (correct me if I am wrong)
Rock/Metal is usually liked by people who have had bad childhoods or went through very rough times. Me, for example, through my childhood, I was beaten by my parents, they were alcohalics, and I had chronic depression my entire life. I have attempted suicide many times before. When I listen to Metal, I see that there are people out there like me who have gone through rough times as well.
Once again, you can correct me if I am wrong about anything.

the vert reason it’s so popular is because along with the mainstream it reaches out to many children in ghettos and poor neighborhoods, if you were t ogo to a poorneighborhood like that and looked at what music they’re listening too I doubt it’d be rock
neither is better, it depends on your taste I just don’t like when people disrespect a genre without knowing anything about it it’s annoying I did that before and I feel stupid for it)

Alright lives ? Excuse me ? Im not one to complain about my life but, I’ve never met my father, only once, and he didn’t know who I was.
My mother, a drug dealer murdered in cold blood when I was 14.
Lived on the streets of New York at 15.
Saw my cousin get shot and bleed to death around this time.
My best friend died of a cocaine overdose around this time as well.
Dropped out of school at 16 because I had just got an apartment and couldn’t keep up with school and a job to pay rent money.
I get robbed atleast 6 times a year.
My whole life I’ve been moving from ghetto to ghetto. Right now Im in Mott Haven, The Bronx. You can look up Mott Haven online and know its hard times.
I was working as a housekeeper at 16 and was raped by a guest who was staying there.
Im now 18 years old, struggling to make ends meet, work two jobs, one being an illegal job.
Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
You wanna tell me rappers have alright lives ? 80%, if not more, rappers and people who listen to rap come from lifestyles like mine. It has nothing to do with the lifestyle you live, although, the rappers that come from harder lifestyles are the ones I relate to.
Go to any ghetto where people are living hard times, and they sure as hell wouldn’t be listening to rock.
Exactly my point, how can these people diss rap when they have no idea what its about, I know they dont know what its about because of your comment about rap being listened to by people with alright lives.
Even if you could just look up a random Tupac Shakur song and read the lyrics, examples:
Brenda’s Got A Baby
Changes
Shorty Wanna Be A Thug
Letter To My Unborn Child
Letter To The President
These songs all talk about hard times that people go through, and you could see the intellectuality it takes to come up with lyrics like the ones this guy could at one point come up with.
