Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has any coping stategies for when they’re feeling depressed. This topic thing isn’t for any emo-type people who want to complain (way too much), it’s for fighters and those who will take any advantage or tactic to defeat the enemy — Anger turned inward.

I don’t have depression, but I do have something related and the coping techniques are nearly identical.

Here are some good ways to cope:

Get plenty of exercise (it’ll make you feel happy and healthy)
Eat well
Practice deep-breathing techniques
Find ways to express your creativity
Engage in prayer/meditation
Get a good night’s sleep

If it’s due to some problem in life than deal with the problem because nothing else will help at all.

What if the problem can’t be identified? Should one go looking for problems in his/her life to solve until the bad feelings go away?

I disagree that nothing else will help. Also from before, I think excersise isn’t (always) a real good depression reliever, especially if overdone. Plus ive heard all these before...

does anyone have a personal coping strategy that works and could possibly help someone else?

I’m saying only if it is a problem in your life. If it is just your head going crazy for no reason than they will help but if it is because of something in your life you will know in your subconscience mind what it is causing your depression or you will know but will never admit.

If the person is male than none of those will help because if he is really depressed than he has truely fallen hard and none of those are enough to help.

So what you’re essentially saying 21 is that you think males are “stronger” than women, so if they are suffering from depression that means they’re just about incapable of being helped, am I right? Or am I reading into that too much?

No, males are not stronger than women.

Men fall less than women but they fall harder.
Women fall more frequently but usually not anywhere near as hard as a man.

Suicide is a good example.

Women attempt it far more often than men but men are more 'successful' with their suicides.

It’s within men and women’s natures.

It really depends on the person, 21. Sweeping generalizations aren’t good for anyone.

I’m just narrowing it down but I know alot about depression. If it’s a man it is usually because something has hurt him badly. That’s why I said IF and mentioned that it could just be that his head si driving him insane if the person is a he.

Hmm really? Then perhaps you are aware that depression can be brought on by imbalances with the neurotransmitters as well as by life circumstances? Causes of depression can be the aforementioned, or other existing health problems, other existing psychological problems, genetics or stress/trauma.

Read my 1st post please. I already said that is a possibility.

I said IF it is due to a problem in life.

Read before you assume please. I really do not feel like argueing today.
