10 mill... ya, no... depending on who you believe, it has sold anywhere between 9 mill. and 7 mill. wii has sold somewhere between 2 mill and 3 mill.... ps2 has sold about 1 mill. the 360 doesn’t have a 10 mill lead on either of them. not even close with the wii, but i’m assuming he was comparing it with the ps3.

Ha Topgamer where I do exceed you buy a lot haha. Sales knowledge. If the 360 has hit 10 million by the end of the year it would only be in shipments. Now we won’t find that out til a couple of monthws from now but they could have hit it. But I’m thinking more about 9 million.
Now sales is totally different. If you go to nextgenwars for “accurate” sales estimates then you really are ignorant to the sales world of the gaming market. Nextgenwars is run by one guy who really has no idea about the market.
For accurate estimates please check out vgcharts.org who’s sales and all sorts of other stuff is the most accurate out there. Along with NPD and Media Create sales.
After screwing with the Wii for awhile, I have to say that I don’t think its this major revolution in gaming. It won’t change crap, aside from getting more people into gaming, but that has almost as much to do with marketing and gaming library as the controller.
Zelda still plays nearly the same as it used to, it just now implements more convenient techniques such as aiming and using the nunchuck for attacks. Despite this, its sometimes unresponsive (maybe its just me, but I seem to have to repeat the spinning motion 3 times before Link actually does a spin attack). The controls just are flawed. Added to that, after playing CoD3, I’m beginning to say that graphics do matter. It was lame as hell. CoD is supposed to be an intense experience, with action all around you and the chaos of war blowing in your avatar’s face. However, the ugly game takes you out of that (the dust was nice, but smoke nades looked like shit) and the controls made me want to use the PS2 controller over the Wii one.
Wii Sports sucks balls. The idea is nice, and I had fun batting, golfing, and such for about, 10 minutes, but the “improved” gameplay didn’t take me away from the mediocrity and overall poor experience of that game. It is merely a cheap tech demo, nothing more. Thankfully, the controls were flawless for me in that game. If they plan to saturate the Wii with these simple games, then I’m going to be a pissed fan.
I have yet to try Excite Truck, which is a game I wish to try so very much, but otherwise, the Wii is so far turning out to be another game console, and a gimmicky one at that.
I’m near the point of wishing I purchased a 360. I like my Wii, no doubt, but it does NOT feel next gen AT ALL, and as well does not feel especially different from last gen. I’m still on wait for Metroid and Mario along with others (as well as some more VC games) before I make my final decision, but I don’t have my hopes up.

Actually that is not precisely the case. It’s not slowing down your computers in any way, it’s the database lookup to find the posts to display that gets slower the bigger the thread is (so it’s slowing down the SERVER).
The thing is: first it has to determine which posts that the topic consists of (from over 600,000...), determine which are visible (of over 80,000), then it has to sort these posts according to when they were made (sorting 80,000 posts is nasty), finally it has to return a certain range of posts...

almost every new control style that nintendo has done in the past has become standard the next generation.
that would be becouse it is a first gen port. of course the controls will not be that innovative for it. they are kind of tacked on, seeing as for most of its development it was a gc game.
as for the graphics, they will improve a lot. this is the first gen, and most devs are focusing on figuring out how to best use the controller rather then how to use the power in the wii. supposedly, if devs are efficient, it can have almost as good graphics as the 360.
wii sports is good for a game that is free and just meant to introduce the controls to you.
most of the things you pointed out will change over time. its a new system, of course there will be some flaws. now, its on nintendo and devs to overcome the problems.

I would be lieing to myself if I didn’t agree with everything you just said. As a Wii owner myself, I find the Wii remote has serious inconvenience issues. When playing action adventure games like Zelda or Spongebob, the Wiimote plays exactly like a traditional controller minus the right analog stick for camera movement which is a pain in the ass sometimes. Doing moves such as the spinning attack or using the Wiimote in a gyroscopic movement can be very unresponsive sometimes. For example, I know when I tap the “A” button on my 360 controller, 100% chances are that Master Chief will jump. By gawd I depend on that. This is not the case with the Wiimote’s unresponsive phlegmatic flaw in gyroscopic moves and can be frustrating at times. Another example, I’ve noticed on Wii-boxing, I can throw 10 very fast punches using the Wiimote yet on screen only 2 or 3 punches will actually be thrown.
The Wiimotes pointing device is horrible. I have about a 6 cubic inch position where it only works. So basically I have to stand-up exactly 4 feet away from the TV and position the Wiimote about 3 feet above floor level to use the pointing devise. I’ve tampered with the settings on this issue and it gets worse the farther you set it from the TV. Excite truck is fun for about 10 minutes but if you’ve played any racer on Windows with Microsoft’s Sidewinder freestyle pro controller back in 1998, then you’ve experienced the Wiimote affect on Excite Truck, which to say the least, is nothing special.
You can kick yourself in the ass for not buying an Xbox 360. The gaming experience is more vast in comparison to what the Wii offers now. Don’t get me wrong, I think the Wii is very fun in a cheap Mickey Mouse kind of way. But at the end of the day, it’s all about Xbox Live and the rush I get from 360 games supersedes that of the Wii.
That’s my take from a Wii60 owner.
