No it is not. Where the hell do you live? You must be living in some racist or over patriotic state because in California you get screwed over you use that word freely and you still ignore the fact that it is an insult in the UK and the majority of Japanese find it offensive. That means the meaning has never changed.
It is also pretty screwed up to take a racist word and use it as if there is no racism behind the words and claim the race is being 'over sensitive'

If 21 is offended by it then fine, but the fact is it’s not used as a racist slur anymore save for a small group of people who still think racism is ok. If it offends him I’d refrain from saying it around him, my argument is trying to not get the word banned as a whole.

words mean what people let them. if a word is racest, its not becouse of its origins or how its used, its how it is taken and what is ment by it. for example, the n word is probably derived from negro, which means 'black' in ceveral languages. there is nothing wrong with the word itself, yet it has been taken on by the majority of the population as one of the worst profanities out there. jap is a racist slur, you cannot argue that.

Jap was a racist slur and if people take offense to that it’s fine. But people get offended by the word Jew as well, yet that is a completely ok word to use.
