Yeah, but the bench press is meant for the pecs, not your arms.

It works for both parts of the body.

it is actually meant for the pecs, there are other exercises that work the arms, like curls.

But the key to arm wrestling is in the wrist.

I’m so fucking off.

yeah, when you arm wrestle you can win pretty easy by forcing their wrist back. It hurts and they can’t really move their arm like that.

Yeah but come on; I beat someone in armwrestling and running who’s a football player *my friend Nick* (and he was giving all he had) who’s 6 feet and weighs in at like 180 pounds and I’m 5’6 and 100 pounds...

.....so that means you’re stronger than him, whats your point

I’m just saying that if you play sports, you really don’t need to.

If you exercise your lower body too it won’t be problem.

I was talking about the people that only exercise their upper body. The lower needs to be done too or yes they will be sluggish.

The weight on the upper half of your body will slow you down your legs need to be stronger in order to better support it.

muscle builds slowly, and your legs will slowly get stronger by just holding you up. The legs are some of the strongest muscles in the body. But having strong legs does not mean you can run fast.

I never said that and you do need to exercise them if you are to get faster, that is why you are supposed to run. It builds up the muscles among other things. Just holding up the weight is not enough. Both the upper and lower halves must be exercised.

the muscles in the legs have nothing to do with running fast. Track runners are skinny bastards. Running is about endurance and stamina. You can be weak and run fast, you can also be very strong and run slow. Lifting weights doesn’t effect your speed.

Lifting weights does effect your speed because that is more weight to carry and running does take muscle. If your legs are weak what is going to happen? You’ll be slower. Running takes muscle too. get a cast on your leg and when it comes off your leg will have less muscle and will be one of the reasons you will be slower.

yeah, but building muscle is a slow process, and while your upper body gets larger, your legs will get stronger by supporting it. Running takes muscle, obviously, but runners do NOT lift weights. The run fast and for a long time to build their speed and endurance. A track runner doesn’t need to lift weights to be fast.

Where did you get that idea? I never said track runners lift weights to get faster. What will strengthening your upper body achieve?

So if I get fat ass hell I’ll get stronger and be able to play sports just by supporting my own weight with my back and legs?
What BS.

Your legs need to be exercised but it is down in a different manner, running. That builds muscle.
