Why am I making this topic? Because I think it sucks. Why do I think it sucks? Fasten your seatbelts, and listen up!
The impression I’m getting from all of your impressions (hoohaa!) I’ve been reading is that, apparently, people like having AI that cheats, getting hit with Blue Shell after Blue Shell after Bullet Bill after Blue Shell, being able to play only two characters in total if they want to have any chance at winning competitively, and basically having the outcome of the race depend more on luck than anything else.
The AI definitely cheats. Ever notice how you smack Wario off the cliff at the last second, and the next thing you know, he blasts way in front of you and wins the race? The infamous rubberband physics, first fully noticable in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! With these unusual physics, you slowly propel upward when you get hit by a bus, making you take a while before you can get back to full speed. However, with the cheating computer opponents, they zoom way ahead of you, 2 seconds after they get hit. I’m sure most of you have cussed at your game because Yoshi won the race after zooming way ahead of you, less than 2 seconds after falling off the cliff. Also, have you ever seen lightning-struck characters use Star Power, even if they’re small? And more importantly, ever notice how characters get Lightning Bolts and Bullet Bills in 2nd and 3rd place, when you, the human, can only get them in 7th or 8th? Combining all of those together, you’re almost sure of losing.
I’m CERTAIN that everyone who’s played this game has got mad at the constant item bashing that you encounter. When you’re almost done with a race, you suddenly lose, only when that stupid winged Blue Shell hits you and 5 characters pass you. In one N64 Choco Mountain 3 lapped race, I got hit by the following: 7 Red Shells, 4 Blue Shells, 2 Lightning Bolts, a Bullet Bill, and a few Bananas, and even though the Banans were my fault, don’t you think that it’s outrageous to get hit by 14 items in one race? I don’t know about you, but I certainly do. I think that the items are fantastic in the game, but the fact that they’re so random... literally, ANYONE can win a race. A buddy of mine beat a snaking world record holder on Wi-Fi, only because he got lucky with seemingly infinite Blue Shells. In Mario Kart 64, it was fun and exciting, because the Blue Shells were rare, the physics were certainly better, and it was overall more enjoyable. Nowadays, the Blue Shell seems like the most common item, even moreso than the Banana. That isn’t fair, is it? You might think so when you’re throwing them all at opponents, but your opinion will change when you get hit by 10+ items in one race. I don’t even have to ramble on, I’m done with the items. We all know they’re totally unbalanced and poor, but still, you guys seem to love 'em.
This one’s easy to explain. When you’re versus the rough 'n' tough computer opponents, you seem to be only versus 2 for competition. The rest are miles ahead, while the top 2 players seem to be impossible to pass. First noticable in Double Dash, as well. See? Simple.
For the “luck”, combine all above with course distractions, such as the giant pinballs and flippers, moving trees, waterfalls, cars and vans (these can knock you off the cliff! Beware!), and even more.
So, in conclusion, this game is terribly overrated. I’m sure most of you like it, only because it’s Mario and the nostalgia from previous Mario Karts pops in your head. In reality, I believe it’s a terrible game.
Note: All of this is my opinion and observations, so if you say “lol fuck you i like it”, read: OPINIONS AND OBSERVATIONS.
Yeah, but for me, they throw 5 or 6 in a single race, and that causes them to pass me eventually, because counting every other item. This is mostly in courses like Rainbow Road and stuff.
Yea maybe you just suck. And no offense liar wait I mean WWN. But I really don’t care. I played the game for all of a week online and really didn’t care at all for the game. I’m a console gamer not a handheld one.
If you don’t like it fine. I liked the game but really didn’t care to play it long at all when I have console gaming.

If you bothered reading my original post, you would have seen my reasonings. It’s not my fault that Mario Kart started sucking ever since Double Dash came out, is it?
