Well, as to people having 'bad' dreams in a constant fashion? Hmmm. We dream 'every' nite if we get that deep into sleep, but we dont usually remember it (if we did, it would probably kill us with exhaustion, because we must 'feel' we slept, as well as have the physical side of 'relaxing').
If you think you have constant nitemares, erm, you don’t. It’s imagination, it really is. Dreams are random thoughts based on subconsious happenings, not all good or all bad. If we feel strongly about something, it will appear as broken ideas in a dream, but remember we 'may' not actually remember the dream, so we don’t think it happened. Or we may only remember the 'bad' parts.
I believe we are born with 90% of what we can feel already inside us, sort of 'pre-prepared' emotions. If you dream of falling from a building, or driving a fast car, but never have, you still feel as if it is real to you - it’s already a built-in emotion. Many of us dream of 's*x' & love, but have never had it (yet). Though it’s so real the event 'has' taken place in our minds.
So if you dream, it’s not so suprising that even a 'slight' emotion, can feel so powerful and real to you. And it gets mis-interpreted as an 'over’whelming' event that really happened - aint that so wonderful?
If you had constant dreams of hard running, every nite, and woke remembering them *all*, you would suffer mental fatigue after a week, because your brain would not be rested, and you would develop that into physical strain - as your brain tells your body “we are still knackered”.

Actually Phil - we remember our dreams when our REM sleep is disturbed. When people have recurring, highly disturbing nightmares (I used to have them every night), they can actually wake up in the middle of REM. They then remember the dream.
Recurring nightmares is a very real phemonenon - sometimes linked with a traumatic event that has occurred. Sometimes our waking mind just can’t make sense of that event....or perhaps even remember it. Our unconscious kicks in and tries to interpret events as we sleep.

UBER 1337 Poster Rep: 4 Joined: 26 Oct 2006 Posts: 1,037 OFFLINE | Ahhh, lipstick being sent as a present? the meaning of the dream. It’s most likely a nice one.
Many books etc., say that it means the dreamer has a 'secret' being held onto. So it’s normal to assume that it’s a bad secret, but it’s not neceserally so.
A persons feelings, or their personal freedom, or ideas, or worries, can be something to hide - even if we don’t realise it. None of that’s bad or secretive, it’s just us being normal people.
“hey, could i have a teddy bear as a suprise gift? why not? no, i don’t want a teddy with lipstick on! That would look scarey "

*The post man collected the envelopes from the office, and one dropped to the side, drawing his attention to it*
“What’s this?' he thought to himself.
“It’s not a flat letter, something is in it. and it doesn’t feel like a bunny, or teddy, or fishing-brolly, or even a shoe (which is more common than you may think). Hmmm”
*he sneakily prods the package. And slowly, the true reality dawns on him. This wasnt just another letter. No, this was far more - this was a special thing, an object that had meaning (as curious as that may seem). What could the curious meaning be though? He thought long & hard about it (and ignored his other jobs which built-up constantly on the conveyor-belt behind him), and as the ideas fell into place, he found the answer to question of just why this obscure object was being posted to the UK in such mysterious manner*
“GOOD HEAVENS!! The whole idea is — — — — "
>FLUMPH<
Unfortunatly despite having an I.Q. of 158, the postal worker failed to notice the 1.2 metric tons of letters and parcels that had piled up behind him, and so, just before he could share his knowledge of make-up accessories and their possible uses to a Philbert in the UK from a lady in 'snooze-land', he was flattened flatter than an average flat envelope thing.
We will never know the truth

Sorry Etain, i didn’t mean to offend anybody who does/did have that happen (sorry everybody).
What i meant is, yes we have the dreams, but that it’s based on random reality - a mixture of feelings, happenings and imaginary happenings. Hence if a person thinks overwhelming nice things (or about make-up and AVON accessories and post offices like Mimi does !!) then those parts can jell together as a dream, which may or may not be a 'hidden' desire or something.
Mimi’s dream would indicate (possibly) giving a gift to a friend. Thank you Mimi (what colour was it? dayglo-green lipstick clashes with my eyes so i hope its a sensible colour )
The thing i’m curious about Etain, is that, what if we have no worries/happy things, and dream about nonsense, in an environment that cannot cause us to wake by external shocks? and still remember the dreams recurrantly? like many have indicated on this topic. What do you think that may be?

when my mom died, i used to dream about her everynight, when i would wake up in the morning i would be soo disapointed that i would just stay in bed and try to go back to sleep, to be with her again,,,,actually its been 6 years and i still have those dreams once in a while, but not as often though

Oh no offense taken Phil - was just explaining what happens . Umm...assuming I understand your question correctly....my understanding is that you don’t remember dreams unless your sleep has been disturbed. If it is undisturbed, that’s when people say they “didn’t dream”.
