Nintendo announced today that the Production of the Nintendo Gamecube has come to an end. It wasn’t the most popular console, but to me as well as many other fans it was one of the best. Let us now take a moment to remember it for what it was, a truly great console.
I’d like to keep flaming out of this topic, from both sides. Last thing I want is somebody to come in here and start bashing the Gamecube or something, so likewise I’d rather not have somebody bashing the PS3.
Alas the gamecube may not have been the best system out there but it was one in a million, it had some of the greatest games of its time and while it did not have online multiplayer or as much features as the other systems it was one of the best because it stood for what nintendo has always been about, innovation and fun games. The gamecube is not truely dead for it lives on in backwards comaptibliy like the other Nintendo consoles so they are never truely dead. When the N64 was finished people still played the great games it had like OOT, when the game made the jump to the GC it was still redeemed as a legend. While the GC may not have been the best console made it had some of the greatest games ever made;

The GC had 28 of the greatest games ever made on it. It was a better system then what everyone else has said about it. Other games like Starfox adventures and assasult were adveragde but they were another pair of fun games for the GC. With the success of the wii right now the future of nintendo looks bright and it already has a big libery of games from the GC. The Gamecube will be remembered as one of the best consoles for its innovative games. It still lives on in the wii so it will never be forgotten it will still live on in backwards comapitibity.

Alas, Nintendo is putting the console out of it’s misery. Memory cards, controllers, and games will soon also stopped being manufactured. It’s going the way of the Original Xbox.

damn, I need to get some of those things soon before they are discontinued as well. I still need to get Prime 1 and 2, Wind Waker, and SSBM. And I don’t think GC games are compatible with the classic controller.
I think discontinuing the games is a bad move on Ninty’s part.
No, I misunderstood your question, the old things will be continued to be produced for some time. New things won’t come out though, no new GC titles, no new awesome controllers, bigger memory cards, they won’t happen. You won’t have any problems picking up a couple wave birds or a new copy of Metroid Prime 5 years from now.
uh... cid, i know u said no flaming, but I honestly couldnt help myself with the first post. I mean gamecube one of the best? yeah right! that thing sucked ass! I owned one and I deeply regret it which is also why I will probably never get a wii, because I will regret it... again. And truly a great console?! some people consider the gamecube to be the WORST console ever made by nintendo. Only game I liked on gamecube was skies of arcadie. I ended up selling it like later on

Yeah, considering the Wii also plays them.
I will miss the Gamecube. I put Four Swords stickers on mine. I need to get to playing Tales of Symphonia before it gets too rare...Hard enough to find it around in my area as it is.

There were good games on it. But they were split too far apart.
Also, worst by Nintendo? Play the Virtua Boy and say that.
