I never said anything about what your beliefs either. I simply stated that Zelda proves that graphics aren’t as important as people might think, which was a response to everybody in the topic, not just you, but then you attacked by saying that Zelda is opinionated.

Does their age really matter? No.

And HALO would still be fun like that, given you could distinguish between different dots and it was still rendered in 3D.

Let me try to clarify even more.

This is a respectful post, a friendly argument to say...

In the market part of gaming, graphics do matter.

If OOT has no jaggies and better textures while keeping it’s artful Zeklda look, would it have sold more?

Yes.

And if GoW looked like something from the Nes would it have sold well?

No.

So for the market side of gaming it does matter, but before you start back up with the posting, you must understand this is just the market side, not the actual gaming side.

Now for the gaming side.

Would have better graphics made OOT a better game?

It seems not, but a small chance of yes.

And would have downgraded graphics for GoW have made it a worse game?

Chances are... no, maybe yes if you made it 2-d.

Now would you look at that! Changing how good the graphics were changed the fun of the game, even if it was only a little bit.

What does this mean?

It means that graphics DO matter, even if only slightly.

Now, before anyone says anything, i still play games on my N64, i will forever love Mario 64, just like i will forever love Windwaker on my old gamecube...

And many gamers would agree that just because it has better graphics it is not more fun.

As this IS true, many also dis-regard the fact that graphics can add enjoyment to the game.

If we were to make a list of things in games, graphics, gameplay, physics, etc, graphics would be on the lower end of things.

But IT’S STILL THERE, it makes a difference, no matter how small or large, it changes it somewhat.

Deal with it, it’s called gaming, it’s made to be enjoyed, and if making the graphics better even to make it more fun even the tiniest of bit, it will get better.

Heh...I could have used DooM to fuel my entire argument. All objects are sprites, absolutely no 3D models, isn’t even true 3D, and yet it owns.

The point of the entire thread is to say that Graphics will never be more important then gameplay, nothing more.

Would I like an updated version of Final Fantasy VII with better graphics? Yes I would, but would the updated graphics make it a better game? No they wouldn’t.

Nerevar, there isn’t much difference in what I did compared to what you did, that’s true, but the one difference that matters is that the second response like that usually isn’t an attack but rather a defense.

Graphics only matter to a point. Once they are so bad that you can’t discern between things, then they matter. But other than that, not really.

Give GoW DooM graphics, and it’s still GoW, same everything except everyone is a bit more blocky. But it would still be just as fun. Personally, I think DooM graphics would make it more awesome...

Graphics are only designed to make a game look good not only but also depending on how the graphics are it shows a certain art style, Realistc graphics are always improving and look better each time, taking a look at games like Half-life 2, Metroid Prime 3, Gears of War, etc they make it feel like the fictional world in those games are real and makes it look like it is actully happening. Other graphic styles like Zelda Wind Waker have had their own styles to make a game look good disrguarding what most other games are using.
