I don’t believe that magic exists in any measureable or overtly observable way: levitation, fireballs, shapechanging etc. However, people who are serious practitioners of magic, or “magick” as they refer to it in an effor to distinguish “the Art” from card-tricks and illusion, have never claimed such outrageous belief. Ask any serious pagan or wiccan and they will tell you that magick is merely the act of focusing your will to achieve your goals. It involves summoning energy that is present in the universe and channeling it to your desires. For example, someone may cast a spell to help them get a good grade on a test. What they do is not use magick to alter their grade, but to give themselves the discipline to study harder, or clear their mind and ready it for the challenge. Sure you can argue that that’s not magick, it’s just giving yourself a positive mind-set, but, if the practitioner believes that the magick is what gives them the ability, then technically, the spell worked.
