so, can you guys please give me one rap 'artist' who has sold more albums then the harry potter books have sold? keep in mind, the number to beat is 325 million copies.

yeah harry potter sucks. he always gets help from other people. without it he would be dead. and tha fights are fuckin lame.
like, i remember tha first movie how he killed tha turban guy, he just fucking touched him man. wtf is that?
and tha chamber of secrets movie. if that bird dint come and blinded tha snake, he wouldve been snake food.
and tha story sucks too. its about freakin magic. theres no freakin rules. and it kinda also makes it ironic, because they can do something complicated but cant do simple things. i cant give examples now, its been a while since i read one of tha books.
but yeah he does suck.
i believe there are rules.....read the books.....*rolls eyes*
shut up bitch! i stab ur eyes!
wehn i say there are no rules, i mean there are no rules for tha author. she can write anything without needing a good explaination. like “ok, ima gunna make this magic place that exists but people, normal people dont know it becuz is magic”. what stupid!
its called an imagination and creativity, both which you don’t have.....
shut up bitch! u dont me. u dont know what books i like.
ur talking about lame imagination. fantasy. magic, unicorns, werewolves, flying broomsticks, creativity? jk rowling dint create those. u know whut she created? she created random objects, like boots, wehn u touch em, u get teleported. thas so lame.
I know you might have difficulties realizing this, but fantasy writers are bound by rules just as much as writers of other genres. True - they make up their own worlds, but after they have done so they have to limit themselves by the rules of that world. Things still have to make logical sense within the context of the world they’ve created.
In terms of the Harry Potter books not only does she limit herself by the rules she has created for her own world, but she also draws heavily on mythical creatures, history, etc. The only place I would agree with you that the books don’t quite make sense is within the context of the different school years.
For example - in book 3 Harry suddenly finds out about trips to Hogsmeade. In books 4 and 5 Harry needs the OWL exams explained to him. In a real school situation students would be at least vaguely aware of what happens in the upper years.

now, why are u comparing hairy potter to rap artists only, u biassed piece of shet? why not compare them to other things, like videogames or anime whose only fans are low life people.
and besides harry potter books is read at some schools. are there any rap artists who people study in school? fuck no. teachers buy harry potter books, and im talking class sets, about 25 books, 4 teachers buy a class set, thas a hundred already. and its not like their students want to read those books.
and who are tha target market of harry potter books? kids. and who are tha target market of rap albums? teenagers, grownups, all smarter than kids.
also harry potter is a family friendly book, it appeals to tha general public. rap on tha other hand hast mostly cussings and all that shit. now if u go to some music stores and ur under 18 and u pick up a rap album that says “parental advisory explicit lyrics”, will they sell it to? fack no!

ok, i guess she does have creativity, but she creates lame things. like i said before, harry potter is being attacked by a giant snake, hes almost gunna get eaten, how does he get himself out of that situation? he doesnt, a bird comes by and blinds tha damn snake. after that his chances of dying is significantly reduced and he survives. so lame.
and also in tha first book. how did he kill tha turban guy? he jus touched him. wow. all that snooping around for clues, and getting past obstacles and when he finaly reaches tha big boss, he kills him by touching him. fucking gay.
and also in tha goblet fire. he fights tha snake dude. how? by shooting light out of his wand. tha two lights jus collide for how many seconds and then is over. u know how thick that book is? and his fight with voldermort dint even last 5 minutes! fucking gay!
after that book, i quit. i dont wanna know how lame tha other books will end.

well, i know for a fact that no video game has come within 100 million sales of harry potter, and anime doesn’t sell. lets try manga.
well, i really can’t find any manga sales. but, i doubt that they are that much over a million.
i mean really, show me anything popular thats really outselling harry potter. 250 million is a huge audience.
raps main audience is retards who don’t like anything beyond surface level for their music.

psh, like all 250 million of those books have been read from cover to cover. jus cuz u sold 250 million books doesnt mean u got 250 million readers. and even if u did doesnt mean all tha consumers liked tha books. look at me i bought tha first four books, back wehn i was in middle school, and now i regret it.
plus, really, theres a lot of hype surrounding harry potter, like i said in tha other topic, its overrated. whats so great about it? its jus a book. really, its not how much books u sell, its how much u inspire. how has harry potter inspired u? how has it inspired anybody? can u find any records of people its inspired?
as for rap, its not really relevant in this topic, ur tha one who brought it up. i wonder why u would do that, especially wehn u hate it so much.
but since u brought it up. how far have u ventured into its realm? ive been to ur harry potter books. how deep have u been into rap? as deep as tha radio can offer? please thas nothing. mos raps on tha radio is overrated too, like harry potter. as for inspiration, rap has done that. rap has inspired people to become rap artists theirselves. most of rap artists have gone from rags to riches. also rap has inspired kids to pick up tha dictionary, to increase their vocabulary. to learn about tha elements of poetry.
Why oh why do people consistently try to compare two things that are so different that no real comparisons can truly be made apart form the fact that both use words.
Harry Potter is a successful fantasy novel series that has captured the imaginations of young and old
Rap is a musical style and a way of life that has captured the imaginations of young and old.
They are two totally different things.
Its like having a argument over which is the better. A bathtub or a Swimming pool.
Well they both contain water.............
It really is sad. It’s ok that you may like or dislike a particular thing, but I don’t believe that it warrants discrimination against the subgroup that enjoys that particular thing.
I read accusations of how fans of this or that are gay, closed mineded, little, nerds...well the list goes on. How can someone make such accusations without actually becoming part of what they dislike in the first place. I read statements like “you dont know much about — -insert said thing here — -" yet in the same breath, disrespect the other persons opinion and say things that imply that they know all about the other persons comparison object or item, hence they can say that all follower of said thing/item are — -insert inflammatory remark here — -
The arguments are flawed to say the least and they provide no basis of fact for comparison.
All it is, is one group disrespecting the other with little or no knowledge of each others respective passions/item/object/culture/following ect...
I seriously hope that people around here learn to provide a educated response rather than the petty flaming that is occurring at the moment because half the arguments are pointless. Its just sad.
hey dont look at me, this is a harry potter topic and kev was tha one who brought rap into this.
see? look whut i said:
