why does it seem that lately the members that are still pretty new are the ones becoming mods? Etain was modded when she was only here for a few months, and same with firewolf. They’re both good choices. Etain is a great mod and I’m sure FW will be great too. Still though.
No. I know what they are. I was joking at the fact that the majority of the site doesn’t even talk about codecs at all, and I wouldn’t be surprised if none of them ever heard of them.

Been to the other parts of the site? The site name kinda speaks for itself...
Codecs are more than video. They apply to most decrypting.
What allows him to have an advantage over Cid (aside from the fact that Cid had never turned in an official application) is that he will check all of the other forums and actually understand what they are discussing. The real topics might as well be Greek to me.0

Understanding codecs has nothing to do with his ability to be a mod. I’m not necessarily doubting he is capable, but a mod should not be determined primarily because he understands technicalities such as codecs, mods, P2P, emulation, writing/burning, etc. He should be a mod because he’s responsible enough to check all over the site and effectively recognize problems and fix them.
Also, removing Cid because he didn’t turn in the application, which doesn’t exist, seems sorta cruel.
But whatever. He’ll probably do a good job. I just don’t like what its founded on, but I’m only a scrub to you.

Actually I did turn in an application some time ago, I was met with a response somewhere along the lines of “this is an excellent application, have you sent it to Bjarne yet?"
Or something like that, I sent it to the Mod address instead of Bjarne’s email... after that I sent it to Bjarne.
I can understand that many people may not agree with the decision for me being a MOD based on the whole Codec issue but seriously folks. This site is called Movie Codec and the main forums are in need of Moderation too.
We all know there is to be no talk of illegal downloads, cracking, modding, serials ect but has anyone actually ventured into the MAIN Forums?
They are called the Main forums for a reason. There are soo many more regular members in there than what there is in the MISC forums topics.
Now I understand that this may not mean much to the people who hang out in the MISC Forums only, but it really is a jungle in the main forums. There is NO ONE apart from Etain once or twice when I first started, who is Policing that area of the site.
There are so many posts that Break the rules in there its quite startling..oh and you thought that this section had some bad Members and Racisim/Discrimination. Off Topic looks like a safe place compared to some of the stuff that is said in the Main forums. You get Lynched for asking a simple question in that section.
Bjarne needs the whole site Moderated and although Off Topic and the other Misc Forums are Fun a fun place to be, They really are just the tip of the Iceberg in what is a much larger site.
