sony:sales maximisation
microsoft: sales maximisation
nintendo is trying to figure each single posible way they can charge the maximum amount and get money, eg. the internet chanel which will cost money after june, the already dead(costs nothing to distribute) VC games which they charge way too much for, and of course its the only console making a profit
sony has already got the most established brand and is more focused on maximising sales of the blu ray player to become the dominant format.
microsoft im not sure on but they want to get the most widely established console but they are also working on profit maximisation with such things are xbox live, providing more services which cost nothing to ditribute but cost heaps(such as south park episodes in HD

You used propaganda to try and make Nintendo look money grubbing, don’t be surprised if you get flamed. The goal of every company is to sell and make profit, Nintendo isn’t the only one looking for profit. They all want the maximum amount of sales so they can make a profit, that is why they made these consoles in the first place. Tell me, what is the point of making a game console and selling it? It’s to make money!! Game companies don’t want the maximum amount of sales just for the heck of it, they want the money that comes with it.

You don’t know how the VC works do you?
They have to reprogram all the games to work on the Wii’s CPU. That’s not going to be just some throwaway cost. Takes awhile for emulators to release ROMs; these guys are trying to emulate the game perfectly with least amount of glitches.

M v C Graphics Designer Rep: 14Joined: 23 Jul 2006 Posts: 8,080 OFFLINE | no, a companies number one goal may not be to get profit maximisation, nintendo needs sales maximisation which is why it went with the slightly improved graphics and a wiimote chucked in, with sales maximisation u dont need to make a profit but its to try and kick the compitition out of the market so they can later make bigger profits, and sony already has the most established brand, and pretty much killed microsoft and nintendo last gen, nintendo got lucky with this console if it didn’t do this well it would of put them out of business pretty much, microsoft lost several billion on xbox but they dont rely on games to survive just like sony, and if this seems unfinished its cus im cant be stuffed explaining economics to u fools.
btw, intelligent is the american spelling

in that case, you could make a case for the ps2 being the same, seeing as it sold like hot cakes.
but, as i said before, nintendo is getting both profit maximization and sales maximization. and, its not luck, it probably has to do with the fact that nintendo knows what they are doing after 20 years.
i hate those words that are spelled different in different areas....

Sony’s original plan was to crush Nintendo and drive them out of business.
Microsoft’s plan was to get a Microsoft product in every room of the hose, including the entertainment/family room.
