for a super computer to do it by itself would take 30 years, but with the power of all computers and the most powerful contributer of them all PS3 it can be done in real time! i was impressed by this folding thing so i signed up myself, u should do it to. on pc u dont even realise its running

I’m still a bit foggy on the idea, my brother and I will probably start running the PS3 constantly since it’s only gonna be an extra $10 a month.

However, what exactly does it do? How is running the system and the folding@home program help cure diseases? I haven’t really had the time to look it up, so any information would help.

well curently im running it on my computer(dont even notice it) and it provides ur unused cpu power to work out certain tasks, and they can look at how cell molecules stuff reacts with certain nutrition etc, and for the single task to be done on a super computer would take 30 years but using this system it takes 1 10th of a second! so they can now view it in 3d and understand the thing much better leading to great things(watch video on the link) and on the pc version i fink (might be on ps3 as well) u get points for every whole task it does, might take a couple of days depending on ur cpu power, and u can use these points to do something(dono wat) curently i got no points and my computer has 3 ghz of cpu power

Ah, I see then, thanks for clearing that up.

I do think that this is a wonderful thing Sony has done.

Pee more, you gotta stop kidding yourself, you keep acting like the ps3 is the most powerful thing ever created.

Nerevar... the TFLOPS being produced by only 31,000 PS3s more then doubles the TPLOPS being produced by 160,000 Windows PCs...

Almost 4 times better then an average PC, thats probably on par with a high end computer. The PS3 is a lot more powerful then you guys think, I don’t know if that can be applied to it’s games or not though. If it can be, the PS3 will blow the 360 out of the water in the graphics department, and remember Nerevar...

If Sony can work with the devs and show them how to unlock the console’s true potential... PS3 will win this gen.

there was great arguement between resistance and gears of war graphics, and heres what insomniac had to say, gow used streaming textures (part of unreal engine) and it allows for more than normal amount of detail(more than what u would expect for computing power) except resistance used standard textures, o and btw although streaming textures looks like the best thing to do it uses up alot more space on the disc which could explain why the game is so short u can finish it in a day on ur first outing, but becuase ps3 uses blu ray it can use the advantages and keep the large game.

insomniac also said the blu ray move was good becuase last gen was using the discs up fully and they are trying to fit more data on the same amount of space. which is why blu ray was the beta choice.

just wait till u guys see the difference

Yeah, you gotta compare it to a souped up computer.
