As a Artist myself, and yes I consider RAP an Art form, Expression is important. The racist slur is unfortunately used as a big part of their expression in their RAP’s.
I don’t wish to oppress their right to express themselves, however I also don’t wish to see such a derogatory term used like it is just another word.
The word has a deep history and should be respected, not abused. I support the censoring of the word in question to something shorthand like N***A or N***AZ. ---

I’m hoping that some of the more sensible members in the thread will follow suit and begin using the censor, if a few do maybe others will start. I’d rather not have a large amount of people banned because of this.

It may cause outrage but it is a simple request. We are not asking them to stop saying it in their personal life or in the real world, just on this site and I think that is reasonable enough. ---

However, if they start using the censored version as an insult to other members, they would still be breaking the rules.
We should formally notify each of the rap threads actually. I assume we’ve made a decision that the censored form is ok for the purposes of rap? ---

If you all agree, I would recommend we lock the 2nd one (the smaller one) and direct everyone to the other. It would make it easier to keep order. ---

As for the FREESTYLE RAP thread, if I may make a suggestion? We should edit the the title to add in parenthesis something along the lines of “Edit racial terms with ****" It would be the the best way to tell everybody in the thread to use edits. ---

In fact we should do that to all the rap threads. That might be a better solution than pushing them all together too. ---
