Yeah that’s not very good for DSL. I hope you don’t pay more than $10 a month for it. I’ll put it that way. ---

Absolute crap upload tho for that kind of download. I’d happily swap 2,000 down for just 1,000 up.
Is there not some kind of software that can calibrate this problem?
There’s a modem config page, but I’m not sure if I can tamper with it that it actually accepts whatever I may actually be able to change.
I always thought it’s just what the ISP allows you. I mean, theoritically they CAN increase upload but can the user? --- Look into my eyes and hate me. Part animal, part machine...remain calm, prepare to destroy.

Your best is better than the average in U.K.
But your average is lower than the Average in U.K. ---

My ISP comes with software which allows me to calibrate my upload/download speed. I could actually decrease my upload and achieve a much higher download but I would rather have a high upload. It’s pretty cool. I think it depends on your ISP. But I don’t share my connection with the neighborhood so maybe that’s why I’m allowed that option. ---

So that’s what? 5:10PM? Yeah that a densely populated traffic time for the net. ---

Damn that’s a good deal you got there. I did get a modem install cd software. I’ll have a look thru it. I doubt I’d be that lucky. Maybe I can get a different plan with the same ISP that has some more flexibility. But I’m pretty sure unless you pay for a business plan paying like $1,000 a month that domestic speeds are all stopped at 256 max. --- Look into my eyes and hate me. Yeah I would call your Internet Provider and have them check/test the lines under ground and they should offer to replace them free if they’re bad. But 16MB/s is twice as fast as mine and if that’s what they advertise, then you should damn well be getting it. ---

That’s all I can think it is. Because my speeds decrease “a lot” when everyone’s on too. But this just a small neighborhood so I dont see 13,000 become 3,000.
Also, whenever ISP companies end up under a new name/managment/company they often make all these changes to pricing and speeds etc without letting the customer know. I had a bad experience once like that with an old ISP that went under and got taken over by a new company. --- Look into my eyes and hate me. Man you get such good deals over there. And so cheap.
There’s something similar to that here, but it’s greatly dependant on how near or far from the Exchange your house is. You can get 20MB down and 2MB up. But you’d have to live very close. The further in KMs you are the lower that gets. Often to speeds like 8MB down and 500 up. But dedicated at least.
The rollover period for these things takes forever here tho. --- Look into my eyes and hate me. Part animal, part machine...remain calm, prepare to destroy.
