Actually, you’re thinking of the seven years of tribulation... Not six years....Anyway onto the subject at hand!
The Mayan elders didn’t not predict that the world would come to an end, it was merely a time of transition from one world age to another. The message they give concerns our making a choice of how we enter the future ahead.
We are living today in the cusp of the Mayan end times, the end of a galactic day or time period spanning thousands of years. One galactic day of 25,625 years is divided into five cycles of 5,125 years.
The Great Cycle of the Mayan Long Count calendar ends on the winter solstice of 2012 A.D. Following Mayan concepts of cyclic time and World Age transitions, this is as much about beginnings as endings. In fact, it was considered by the ancient Mayans to signify the creation of a new World Age. We are almost at the end of the fifth and final 5,125 year cycle.

Jesus guys, many people across the world operate on different years, and the standardised calender is supposedly 6 years late, ie 0 AD being six years after Jesus was born, by our calender.
It’s not like the bible tells the future guys. It was written over the course of a couple hundred years by blokes who never met, and has been translated and retranslated countless times. It’s not a fortune teller, just a good story.
Edit: woah, I totally missed that this wasn’t about the bible. Still, my point about our years being fucked up is valid.
this whole end of the world stuff is bullshit. do you know how many people have predicted the end of the world? they either say a certain date and get it wrong or they give a vague description that can’t possibly be wrong because the world will end and that’s the person’s prediction. it’s people like Nostradamus who give crappy descriptions. they say he predicted 9/11, but he gave a shitty description of it, so it couldn’t be wrong. It was bound to happen.
Egypt is still here, I’ll be it not an empire, but still here.
time is such a pain though, so meny rules.
