But the USA would kick the Combines back to hell where they belong. We have nukes, an unbeatable air force, and tactical weapons and soldiers who would engage in guerilla tactics and wear down combine resistance to nothingness.
Other than the US, China would kick some ass with overwhelming nunbers, nukes, and a high-powered air force, Britain would kill a lot too with their snipers, navy, and hardcore resolve.
Combines wouldn’t like the comtemporary Earth very much.....we’d own them eventually, even if they came with massive force and knocked out our armies, we’d never give in...I wouldn’t, anyway. They can crush us, but not our resolve to resist them....

If Gordon Freeman and his fellow few can resist to the point of being more than just a minor annoyance to the combines, we could certainly become a major pain in the ass.

If the aliens evolved technology differently than us and used it for other purposes and not war, then they wouldn’t be very hostile in the first place.
If they wanted to destroy/overtake earth, prior to that they probably would have destroyed/overtaken other planets and would have sufficient technology to do so with earth as a result, if they didn’t evolve technology for war-like purposes then they wouldn’t have a want with us, bar perhaps study or intergalactic relations.
And anyways, if they were exploring-type aliens, they would probably have good armour and defenses, since who knows what things out there would want them dead.
