Etain and myself had started something that we hoped could easily solve that problem. We had an external website (a blogish thing) that we used to keep track of warnings, however she and I were the only two to actually use it. What I would say is, if we give a member a warning it should probably be done both in that thread and through PM. Through PM to verify that the member receives the warning and on the thread so that other mods know that it has been taken care of.

OK, sorry CID, i missed that part of the forums activities. It will have been maybe while i was away for a couple of months (personal issues), then Etain had left when i returned sad and things had changed so much.

If it’s a thing to do with MVC though, i dont think having it off-forum will help, because nobody will wont to need that redirection. It’s a bit like having your printer in next doors house - you can just go and knock and ask for your latest photos to be handed over, but it’s irritating to do so. Was that a private thing? cos i can’t find anything about it?

If it was private, then thats good for the MODs, but would serve no purpose to anybody else on the forum. It’s like criminals being wizzed away in the night, people need to see justice (?) to believe in it.

erm, anyway - onward . . . .

Movies/Music/TV section

I was browsing this section yesterday, and I think it needs major cleaning up. If this whole mini-mod thing comes into effect, I suggest assigning a mini-mod to that section, though there is alot of banning that needs to be done.

I found horrible racist comments, one guy went on for about 6 paragraphs about black people and the ghettos they live in, using awful remarks.

There is alot of flaming, spam, derogetory comments that is going on there and if we want to fix MVC, we have to fix ALL of MVC, and not just the off-topic.

I saw that and it seemed that Firewolf had taken care of the problem. However IF the mini mod idea does get approved they won’t have the ability to ban members, if a ban is needed they would have to PM a Normal Moderator about it.

My Apologies

The main reason I came to this meeting was to use it as an oppourtunity to apologize to Livingdeadgirl.

I could have handled myself much better than I did and I just want to apologize for all the mean things I’ve said to you.

Yeah, thats why I wrote you could assign a mini-mod, though theres alot of banning to do. I meant the mini-mods would need to PM the mods, yes.

Also, I PMed you and Firewolf about that because I wasn’t sure if Firewolf was still using his moderator powers or not.

Trolling, and the insulting off other members beliefs and religion need to be tacked down and taken care of

Too often do i see others flame and troll and curse at other members for what they believe in or what they think.

This needs to be stopped!

Excessive or unneeded topics are NOT NEEDED!

There are times when far too many topics are posted about the same thing or when a member[s] make too many topics labeled “I’m bored!" or “Something bad happened to me today!" or “I need help! My foot is sore!" and such and so need to be deleted! They are just trash and can easily be counted as spam.

Actions need to be taken soon, some members are simply out of control. And the responsible members have to try to get them under control whilst the mods clean up their mess.

That is all i have for the moment, i may be back with more.

Thank you for making this topic Firewolf. we needed a place to talk about this.

philbert wrote: Welcome, to everybody smiley Thank you for being here.

On the subject of Traumatic events - i see a forum as a place where visitors may 'need' to speak openly/seriously about such things, while remaining anonymous (from real life). From a psycological point, this can be essential - many visitors have nowhere else to turn in there 'real' lives. These matters/subjects should always be treated with respect, and if no 'help' can be given then saying “HAAA HAAA” and other such phrases, should (my opinion) cause a small temporary ban (24hours? simply a token reminder on 'desency'?). Sounds harsh - i know, but we all have the common sense to see what we say may hurt another. We are here to share/laugh/learn, not to hurt.

MODERATORS & 'Mini-Mods' smiley - i agree with the idea of having a small selection of 'frequent visitors', who are also trusted, and have shown the ability to reason in most cases. We are ALL capable of slight errors in judgement, we all feel a need to be heard, and can lose sight of the reality in front of us. As such, MODs should always be chosen by others, and not simply because they 'like' the idea of it.
Also, as there does appear to be times with no MODs around, i think the world-location may need to be a factor, so there are not breaks for periods of time to allow mass-spamming (though that doesn’t seem to be too much of a problem from what i have seen). Maybe a fast & simple way for MODs to do mass-deletions of spam could be implemented? I guess that would all be down to Bjarne, and how the system is set-up - i can’t say anything about that (i’m not educated to that level wink).

For what it’s worth, i would like to say thanks to the MODs (past, present, future) for the time they put in, and the abuse they absorb sad. We all have lives outside of here, and i would definatly not be able to mentally cope with such an activity (too sensitive, too wacky). Every minute of their monitoring, is much appreciated.

SPAMMING - always an odd one to define, because our own 'mind' defines our perception at any one moment. What was funny to us yesterday, may today seem irritating if we are not still happy. However there are very obvious occasions - such as intervening in a running conversation, with abstract swearing/huge pictures/offensive remarks etc. None of us are so stupid as to not know when we are in the wrong place at the wrong time. I urge visitors to please keep that in mind. See what has been written (over the previous two or 3 pages) and take it into account when being random. If your humour or comments can be helpful, then Go For It, but if asked to leave (politely) during that conversation, please do so without trouble.

==============================================================

Last weeks events showed how easily a few words can cause an huge disruption. I suggest that in all such events in the future, the 'offended' person (or persons) contact the 'offender', and openly ask them to consider others' opinions and to please refrain from such remarks. If this 'request' is attacked (or as we have seen recently, extra topics be started to add insult sad) then a MOD should be contacted, who can then PM each member. As was seen earlier, if a MOD gives a warning to a member, but does not let others know, then it can cause confusion. Perhaps a FEEDBACK section for public warnings could be used? E.G. The offender gets told they have a warning issued - and a link to the that warning is shown. It’s simply a suggestion there, only the MODs could decide if that is implementable?

OK, i’ve typed enough for this hour smiley Thanks for reading smiley

I have to agree with you ONE HUNDRED percent man. Especially the first part.

I’ve noticed that people come here to get advice on their personal lives (i’ve asked for help myself) and all they get in return is insults and jokes and it hinders the people that really care from helping them because the whole thread is spammed up with insults and people calling them “emo” and other insults that are similar.

I agree with you very much Philbert. Thats all I have to say.

Here is something.

a quote, but i removed the names.

the bolded parts are said by the same guy.

Is it a town of sorts?

— — — -

Dear me, the ignorance is blinding.

— — — -

hah wot i wouled call that is innerscents.

WATS blinding is the nuclear weapon that exploded

— — — —

You are unfathomably stupid.

Firstly, you can’t spell for shit.

Secondly, it wasn’t the result of a nuclear weapon, fucking google it or read a history book at some point, moron.

A Ukranian Nuclear Reactor exploded (not in a nuclear explosion sense, but because of a buildup of pressure, created from the excessive heat of the reactor), thereby spreading nuclear fallout over a vast area.

Nuclear weapons had nothing to do with it in the slightest. Now go read a book, for god’s sake.

The guy obviously just insulted two people for NO REASON just because they were asking a simple question.

He goes on acting like he is smarter just because someone doesn’t want to type so well.

He has no right to flame and troll like that.

Hah, I was totally waiting for me to be brought up somewhere.

I was flaming them for their obvious lack of any historical knowledge and blatant ignorance.

I mean, Chernobyl is only the world’s biggest nuclear accident. Not like it’s never been mentioned in the media or anything...
