It is all down to a persons insecurities and self image.
It is human nature to fear that which we don’t understand. A common response to fear in society is to mock or make fun of, hence not actually addressing the fear but replacing it with laughter that normally follows the mocking of something of someone.
Fear has long been considered a weakness and we as a species try to mask that fear with other emotions. the act of mocking something or someone give the individual some feeling of power and dominance over that fear and gives the individual a greater sense of power and security.

Yeah but you see all of these people liking the same person for the exact same reasons, like “shes skinny with big boobs and blonde hair." But people should be able to see through that. People find other people that mostly everyone thinks is ugly, beautiful, because they gave them a chance to see their inner beauty. Trust me on this one. I used to be like that, where my man had to have a six pack, be popular, a certain hair style and not a unique look, a look that everyone else wants, but when I got over that, I started to understand myself and everything else around me. I dont know how to really explain this perfectly, but all Im saying is, you shouldnt judge someone before you know them.

Yeah, well I was taught by catholocism the whole fire and brimstone homosexuality bad thing, so its kind of weird that I have absolutely no problem with gay people. Plus my neighborhood is uber-conservative.
