UBER 1337 Poster Rep: 5 Joined: 26 Oct 2006 Posts: 1,037 OFFLINE | Cos your internet connection is a standard network thing, sometimes the main server (or DHCP) screws up, and an IP gets double-assigned, or data gets lost on route, and buffers up so much you get put down as a 'problem' on the network, which leaves you gettin bounced around in a loop.
Certain networks give some users priority so it repairs itself after a few seconds, but for general Internet, most of us are just basic 'users' 
Turning the modem or router off for 30-40 seconds, makes the network think you have left the system, and so it re-assigns a new section to you when you turn it back on. If you do a reset too quickly, it thinks you just got stuck in traffic and you stay disconnected as before.
If your ISP doesnt 'rent' enough spare addresses, then you can get the disconnection problem more often.
Glad you got going again so fast
