Aang dosent need to learn Airbending, true. But maybe there is something planned for Book 4: Air.
Maybe it is the revival of the Air Nomads, maybe it is the starting point of a new plot. None the less, There will be Book 4: Air.
Aang will face the Fire Lord in Season 3. I have concrete info on that from a very reliable source: TV.com.
i.e. each book had something to do with its title element. Book 3: Fire = Fire Nation plot

DeuceX Guest | I will eat crow on this one if I am wrong but here is what I think will happen:
1. Iroh will teach Aang firebending, but he will not defeat the Fire Lord...Iroh will! (Thus becoming the new lord and restoring the Fire Nations place in the world.)
2. Zuko will defeat his sister, thus avenging his mother and finding balance within.
3. Aang will use the “cosmic” avatar state to destroy the comet, and he and Katara will live happily ever after and make air/water babies.
And yes there will be 4 books because there is too much left to squeeze into one more season...just don’t expect it to be called “Book 4: Air”, I am not ever going to hazard a guess what it will be called.
Thats just my $0.02

We will see in the end but its a long wait there...
