Cause when you buy a game single player is available with nothing else you need to have, except of course a TV and the actual system. So technically that is the essence of a game cause this has the most chance of being played. Multiplayer on the other hand you either need another person or an online connection setup.
Single player is the only feature in a game that when you buy can be directly accessed without any outside circumstances necessary. So technically it has to be good for a game to be good.

Bungie even admitted they screwed up on Halo 2, and based on what they are saying that isn’t going to be the case in Halo 3... plus, Master Chief is going to be fighting the Covenant (and possibly the flood  ) on Earth. So I mean it can’t be nearly as bad as Halo 2’s was.

For example Legend of Zelda, although Phantom Hourglass will get some sort of multiplayer.

From what i’ve seen, Halo 3 is going to own both multiplayer and single player. And yes the Zelda, Final Fantasy, and Kingdom Hearts games are all great examples of good games that are single player only. Awesome storylines on them too.

Entree Rep: 0 Joined: 11 Jul 2007 Posts: 7 OFFLINE | "Story mode” is the essince of the game. But a good multiplayer mode not only raises the replay value alot, but also allows you and a friend to play Story mode if there is Co-op play avalible.

Actully if you were smart P.Moore most people would already know how single player would already be fore Halo 3, once again you do these
Run from point a to b finishing objectives.
Shoot, Melee, Blow up, and Run over foes.
Use carefull planning on weapons and take which ones you think would come in handy for whats up next.
Survive with your recharging shield and get in an dout of combat with it.
Thinking which vechile will provide the best offense or defense against foes.
New stuff well,
Making careful choices on equipment
deciding on weather you should take the chaingun or leave it on a turret.
