hiro- seeing as the PS3 didn’t actually have a price drop (teh $499 60GB model won’t be sold anymore after July) it looks liek it’s be hard to sell the PS3.

Sony is predicting that they’ll have 11 million shipped by March 2008. While NIntendo has predicted they’ll have 20 million Wiis shipped by the end of March 2008. It’s physically impossible Hiroshama for your prediction to come true. Ownage.
But this is very low shipments. Especially since they’ve already have 5.5 million shipped with still 9 months left to go. They obviously didn’t ship a lot this last quarter and won’t be shipping much the upcoming quarter.
Yeah at the pace they are going now no no no no no no no no, but....... if the price drop does go into affect and the systems start selling double that they have plus all the new games and there is the holiday season, right now I think they will just miss the mark but hey is all about how they price drop goes into affect!

Alrgight then I’ll play your game here. Nintendo plans on shipping 20 million by the end of the fiscal year in March 2008 while Sony plans on shipping 11 million. So if we go back 3 months then that put Sony at 9 million and NIntendo at 17 million there abouts. Rough guess cause Q1 is a slow quarter. So really what your saying is Nintendo has to only sale 9 million to beat the Wii.
Ya know Wii has already done that. Dude your prediction never had a chance. According to VGCharts Wii has sold 9.05 million and it’s physically impossible for sony to catch up if this stands true. Now we’ll see if shipment stay true to this but sales will. Sony has only sold 3.7 million.

Really if I were you I’d be looking more to shipments than actual sales to see if Sony will takedown Nintendo. Cause NIntendo is still having development problems and not being able to supply while Sony is having no problem overship. Sony could do what it did with PSP and overship so much that in one quarter had more shipments than DS. Had an 8 million lag to sales so ya never know.
But that is the only possible way it could happen but with the way PS3 is saling that’d lag need to be around 10 million to be ahead of Wii shipjments.
Oh I jsut noticed Sony wants to hit 11 million by the end of 07. I totally thought they said the end of the financial year but guess I read it wrong. OH well so it woudl be a 17 million to 11 million ship rate. And with Wii saling out and PS3 not I think it’s pretty obivous that there is no chance PS3 will have outsold or outshipped Wii by the end of 07.

It had a chance if everything fell into place, it’s sony we are talking about, they could sell 4 million just over a holiday break. And i’ll tell you now, no way 9 million Wii’s have sold, who is coming up with these numbers? I can get you better ones, you’d have to give me a bit.
Well this is VGCharts and they’ve so far been pretty close to accurate and when they aren’t they change immediately. They have about 9 million Wii’s shipped as of the end of June 2007. Also thought we know Wii is still sold out thus sales at that same time frame were about 8.9 million. Then since it’s a week after with last sales it puts them over 9 million.
but I don’t think your understanding what Sony is saying. They are saying their goal is to have by the end of the year 11 million units shipped. And even if everyone of those were sold Nintendo plans to have 17 million shipped and with them virtually sold out they’ll probably still be then. It’s 99% impossible for Sony to sale more than Nintendo this year.
