It’s that time again and we are in for a big surprise at who took the top posistion this month. NVM I lied. Actually it’s exactly what you’d think. Did I get anyones hopes up. Let’s take a look at who sold the best last month in the US.

NDS - 562,000 units
Wii - 381,800 units
PS2 - 270,000 units
PSP - 290,100 units
360 - 198,400 units
GBA - 113,000 units
PS3 - 98,500 units

DS sold a whopping 562,000 this month. And although this was a 5-week data collecting month the DS still sold a whole lot more than it did last month, which was 4-week. Combined with Canadian sales it sold over 600k in North America.

Of course the Wii still stays on top almost selling almost 400k. With the combo of Canadian sales it sold 430k this month in North America.

PSP still sells pretty solidly yet compared to DS it’s hard to see that as good. 360 is almost 2:1ed by Wii but stays above that limit. yet add in Canadian number and it does happen. Finally the big one. GBA not only halves PSP sales in America but it also outsold the PS3 by almost 20,000 units. This is a handheld released close to 8-9 years ago with a amazingly successful successor on the market. That is impressive.

PS3 although improves over last month’s numbers but that is ultimately seen by the addition of another week. maybe cause of the pricedrop last week the July sales for PS3 will be better.

Anyways that’s the ever predictable hardware. Now to software:

1. Mario Party 8 - Wii (Nintendo) - 426,200 units
2. Wii Play - Wii (Nintendo) - 293,200 units
3. Pokemon Diamond - DS (Nintendo) - 288,400 units
4. Pokemon Pearl - DS (Nintendo) - 214,700 units
5. Forza Motorsport 2 - Xbox 360 (Microsoft) - 197,400 units
6. Guitar Hero II - PS2 (Activision) - 197,350 units
7. Guitar Hero II - Xbox 360 (Activision) - 177,600 units
8. Pokemon Battle Revolution - Wii (Nintendo) - 157,900 units
9. Resident Evil 4 - Wii (Capcom)
10. The Darkness - Xbox 360 (Take Two)

Once again Mario Party 8 stays at amazing highs putting sales of the game way over 700,000 in America alone despite all the negative hype going it’s way. Got to be the advertizing pushing this game. Wii Play continues to sell apsolutely amazing even though it was released in February. Not to many games out there with that kinda long term success.

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl combined for 500,000 this month and continue to show why Pokemon is still one of the best saling franchises alive. And then Nintendo, who took the top 4 spots(Wii having top 2 spots), the others come in to take some of this top 10 glory. Forza Motorsport continues its good sales as well taking the 5 spot. Guitar Hero II on PS2 and 360 continue their long term success in the American markets. Starting to notice a trend about games that are targeted towards not only hardcore gamers but casual gamers as well and especially. They tend to have success over long periods of time. That’s easy to explain but not for this topic.

Rounding out the rest PBR and Re4 for Wii take 8 and 9. It’s something to note that these games were released on June 21st and June 27th respectfully meaning they only had a week or 2 of recording data. Same for The Darkness which took #10 spot which released on the same day as PBR. These 3 titles will could make top 10 next week as well.

Overall for sells Wii took 4 of the 10 spots, 360 took 3 spots, DS took 2 spots, and PS2 took 1 spot. PS3 hasn’t had a game in the top 10 since Motorstorm.

To tie it off here is the top 10 saling software for this 1st half of 2007 in America:

Note: PSP sales I can’t seem to get a consisten answer on sales. Some sources say 290,100 units sold this month and others say 230,100 units sold this month. Until I find which is correct I’ll keep it at 290k. If I find that’s correct I’ll take this message off. If I find it’s wrong I’ll change accordingly.
