Double-kick I see, hmm nice. Can you play em pretty good?
It’s a cheap pedal (soon to be replaced by a direct-drive pair), so I’m kind of limited by it. At one point I was at 200 bpm with it, but I kind of lost interest and now I’m a comfortable and precise 160. I’m not so much into playing Death Metal now anyway, so keeping up the chops on my feet is an unnecessary waste of time.
It’s pretty good tbh; I was around 190-200 within 6 months of starting double-kick, which is mega progress, but after reaching 200, it takes roughly a year to gain 10bpm. That’s with decent equipment. Plus at those speeds, you need to trigger. It wasn’t worth keeping up the effort, frankly. Nowadays I use double kick for accents and flavour, and I can still lay down some hard and heavy 16ths when the music calls for it.

What kind of music do you play now?
Progressive Metal; lots of odd time signatures, the technical stuff basically. Although I find myself playing a lot of funk, and a fair bit of industrial-type grooves. It’s all good.
