Hi,
Do you see any need for new forums?
Does anyone have any suggestions as to which kind of new forums could be created (splitting up off-topic and games into some more forums?)?
I am just taking suggestions for now. I need ideas for forums that could attract as many users as the movies/tv/music forum... (so it cannot be too specialized)
I wont guarantee that I will in fact create a new forum, but your suggestions will help me decide
Just keep pouring in your suggestions here, I will respond after a while.
(just a note to self: http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/36354p1.html )
I think there was an idea running rampant a while back about a “debate” or vs. forum as an idea. I have no clue how this idea is sitting now however, or whether/how it will attract a wide variety of people, although I do know some people who love to debate a lot.
I don’t know how many others would agree, but an arts/literature/creativity section might be nice.
It would be a more appropriate section to place the short story thread, as well as offer members to submit their work and have others review it. Also, there could be discussion of favorite books or authors or plays or poets.
Like I said, I’m not sure how much this would appeal to the other members, but I’m just putting the idea out there.

I agree.
Also, I think that there should be another forum that is for people that have reached regular rank. Give people a slight break from a lot of those multiple accounts/spammers.
Or perhaps a serious forum. You have to admit, Off-Topic isn’t exactly serious. What if we had a forum purely for serious discussion (an On-Topic forum of sorts). Seriously, it’s impossible to stay on topic here >>
Let’s see, in the games section it might be nice to have a subforum for versus matches, since we seem to have quite a few pop up from time to time.
In the Movies/Tv/Music section, it’s a bit unorganized, so possibly renaming the section to media and having three subforums *Movies, Television, and Music* would help draw more attention because everything isn’t jumbled together.
In off topic possibly... a religious sub-forum. For people to go about their religion related talk there.
Finally, in feedback I still support the idea of a moderators only section where we can discuss things in private as a group. We’ve actually had to go off-site before to a chat room, and it’s not really convenient at all.
I also agree with the above two idea, arts/literature and a place for people who’ve reached 5000 post to hang out.
However Maggot, I wouldn’t count on it remaining on topic at all times... but it would definitely give you guys a break from spammers, flamers, trolls, and everything else that seems to insight problems.
i think the one about reaching a cirtain post count might couse more spammers - but maybe one were if theyve been a member a cirtain amount of time they can get into-or a combination of both

They’d have to be spamming with an account, which makes it easy to just ban them. So I think the 5000 posts idea is great.

Doing that would take them forever anyway though, and it would still technically be fine unless they were spamming in the process.

A forum for members only? (where guests cant post)
Ya, I would rather have that than “you have to have 5,000 post to get in here” I’ve been to forums where you have to have a certain amount of posts to get in to a certain forum and it really takes away from the rest of the site. Most of the people just posted in the 'special members' forum and not that much in the regular anymore.
