yeah America calls it basketball, but it was invented in Canada, and called Hoops. it was renamed basketball, because Peach baskets were used originally. America dominates in several pro sports, but i am just referring to the origin, not “who plays it better” because there are far more sports americans get owned at.

watching anyone play Canada in hockey is far funnier than the American basketball dream teams {and America seems to only really own in sports where/when pro’s are finally allowed to play} wink

Well, yeah, America is still a baby country compared to others. But damn, how far it’s come within the few years it has been. But I have to admit, Hockey is fun as hell, although I’ve never played on ice (Rollerblades on the street).

Referred to as “America’s Pastime” since 1856, Baseball today is played by men and women of all ages and skill levels all around the world. Despite its recurrent scandals and woes, Baseball remains synonymous with the best that America has to offer.
19th Century Baseball: The Beginning

Contrary to popular belief, Baseball was not invented by a single individual, but evolved from various European “bat and ball” games. Russia had a version of Baseball called Lapta, which dates back to the fourteenth century. It consisted of two teams (five to ten members) with a pitcher and batter. The ball would be thrown to the batter who would attempt to hit it with a short stick and then run to the opposite side and back before being hit by the ball.
Cricket and Rounders

England has played Cricket and Rounders for several centuries. The first recorded cricket match took place in Sussex, England in 1697. Cricket is played in a large open circular field and has two sides of eleven players that attempt to “put out” a “batsman” who tries to prevent a ball thrown by a “bowler” from knocking over “bails” placed on “wickets," or three upright sticks. If the batsman makes contact with the ball, he runs to the opposite side of the “pitch” and continues running back and forth until the ball is retrieved by the opposing team.

did i ever say they weren’t related? no. did i ever say baseball wasn’t influenced by cricket? no. i said they are two completely different sports, which they are. the rules are completely different and it’s played differently too, even if it is with similar equipment. it’s not like america took the game and just slapped a new name on it, we only did that to soccer.

Tennis and badminton? two sports with huge similarities, that evolved from ONE sport

Baseball? Cricket made simpler, but the SAME ORIGIN. Just cause the rules they didn’t understand got changed {so anyone can learn to play} and a new name gets slapped on, doesn’t make it a new sport totally different from the one before it {kinda like christianity}

just because something evolved from something else doesn’t mean they have to be so similar. i mean, butterflies are adult caterpillars, yet they are nothing alike. besides, according to your quote, it could just as easily be said cricket was stolen from russia’s lapta. my sister and i have the same origins, but we are completely different organisms shocked

i see what you’re getting at (even if i don’t particularly appreciate the wording of it), but they’re really very different sports.

Baseball is actually a very fundamental sport. Meaning it’s harder cause your not just running around using sheer physical brute to win. It takes good fundamentals, athleticism, and strong focus and awareness.

That’s probably why you don’t like it or like to watch it cuase you neither have those qualities or respect them.

baseball’s pretty boring. i remember playing it when i was younger and holy shit, it’s so much WAITING.

i prefer sports where you don’t wait for 10 minutes just to do something, and if you miss, you have to wait again =/

but that’s just me.

Baseball really isn’t that physically demanding. I mean, like any other sport, sure it helps to be physically in shape and it takes a great amount of skill for the very, and I mean VERY few seconds you’re actually active. But no, Baseball is NOT not physically demanding at all in comparison to other sports. But no matter which sport you choose, they all require a strong focus and awareness. Each one has it’s zone/niche to become a professional. It’s not all “brute strength” as you put it. Baseball to me is kind of like golf. I love to play golf but all be damned if you ever see me watching it.

I am in excellent shape 0.o?

Baseball only requires strength. Not athleticsism-
Try doing a competitive AAA hockey practice or a Competitive Red Socks Football practice.. Or even Basketball practice. Youd get the shit kicked out of you if you said baseball was hard;;

The only athletic performance you are doing in baseball is running and hitting the ball- And limited of that...

Hockey requires awareness and focus.. more then baseball- You need to be aware of whats going on around you to stay safe and make good plays.. If you dont know whats going on behind or infront of you, then your gooing to be knailed.. Keep your head up, Skate fast, make good plays, talk, dont go offside/ influence a penalty, take care of team and perform-

Baseball is " Watch the game, talk, perform..

Hmm...?

Basbeball sucks..

Hitting the ball can be fun. The rest is lame.

Hit ball - catch ball or drop ball

Mystery!! What will happen next!

Catch ball!

;; gimme a break!

I am in excellent shape 0.o?

Baseball only requires strength. Not athleticsism-
Try doing a competitive AAA hockey practice or a Competitive Red Socks Football practice.. Or even Basketball practice. Youd get the shit kicked out of you if you said baseball was hard;;

Not only that, but I would go so far as to say that Boxing, soccer, football, hockey, and other physically demanding sports actually take MORE skill then baseball. Think about it, you’re physically drained to the max and expected to push out the skill required to win in the 4th quarter of the game. completely Physically demanding sports require not only strength, but agility, stamina, heart, determination, speed, balance, etc. all while remaining completely focus, yet drained and exhausted, on the ultimate skill to win. Fuck, Baseball ain’t got shit on other sports when it comes to mind and body focus.
