Bleach shinigamis have Soul Slayers while Death Note shinigamis have the “Notebook of Death” and “Shinigami Eyes"

Actually, Death Note shinigamis need Shinigami Eyes to look at one’s names and lifespan. Without that, they can’t kill anyone with their Death Note!

You forgot to add Death Note Shinigamis can’t be harmed physically.Bleachs can.

This is a tough choice, I’m a fan of both shows and the shinigamis in both are pretty awesome. But I think the Death Note shinigamis would win easily. Bleach shinigamis are very powerful physically and have their fancy swords and whatnot, but they’re basically just powerful humans charged with the job of protecting dead spirits and helping them move on and whatnot, so they can, as Manchester Black said, be hurt physically. Death Note shinigami were never seen doing any kind of physical combat, they just kind of hung out and ate apples. But they can’t be physically hurt and they have their shinigami eyes and death notes. All they’d have to do is look at the Bleach shinigamis' names, write 'em down, and boom, they’d win in a fight without even moving much.

Besides, Ryuk is awesome-looking and Death Note is my favorite of the two shows. So Death Note wins. =)

wait, i haven’t watched death note. what can the shinigamis do in it? from what i can tell, their only powers are they can see peoples ages and life spans. seeing as that power pretty much sucks ass in most cases, i’m going to go with they can do more then just that, and they just didn’t mention it in the wikipedea article. so, what all can they do?

they can’t be harmed physically, and the only way they can die is by either running out of their own lifespan, or saving a human’s life.

also, when they see their name and age, they can just write down their name in a death note, and they will die.

shinigamis means “death god” both in bleach and in death note.

Generally shinigamis mean Death Gods. “shini” as in death; “gami” or “kami” as in god
