It says in the same passage that God gives everybody the freedom of choice, to choose weather or not they wish to accept his gift of forgiveness. And what you are talking about is the catholic church’s version of an “unforgiveable” sin, which is pure BS and isn’t in the bible at all. It’s just an invention by the pope.

Yeah, catholics are probably the biggest pricks of all christians. Except most fundamentalists arent catholic.

thas not contradiction. god forgives u if u repent. hell fire does not exist. its a mbol for everlasting destruction. meaning there wont be a resurrection.
i can name one contradiction. where god says he can do anything and where he says he cant lie.
theres more in skeptics annonated bible or whatever website. type it in google.
God didn’t say he couldn’t lie, and he didn’t say he couldn’t sin. That is just a common miss-conception of the bible, why don’t you do research before believing everything your told?

That’s because the catholic church took the bible, tossed it aside, created there own doctrines and follow those instead. I mean saint worship? Putting the Virgin Mary in a diety like possition? Serving Penace? Going to weekly confessional? None of that is in the bible, it’s just the whim of the pope.

All started around the middle ages buddy. But I dont think I ever worshipped a saint when I was catholic. I exalted them, but no worship.

oh, and, just cuz i want to answer this also...
god will forgive you for anything. the 'unforgivable sin' is denying him. that is because if you deny him, your not accepting his forgiveness. not accepting his forgiveness is the only way you can go to hell. he will forgive anything, as long as you let him.
OK so what if you ask for forgiveness after you di.

Praying to the saints is the same thing as worshiping them. In fact it goes against one of the commandments, “have no other god’s before me”. They make the saints into dieties putting them on level with God.

I never prayed to a saint. But, Ive always viewed the bible with a level of skepticism. Christianity to me is split into two division.
Corrupt catholics, and Fundamentalist protestants.

well, ignorance is different. thats a big issue in the church. what about those who have never heard? i personally think that either they are either let strait into heaven, or are given a choice like you said.

You might not of, but it is a common practice in the catholic church. And I would be way closer to the fundamentalist protestant side.

To be honest, the fundamentalists piss me of more.

Is it because they actually use the bible when trying to prove things? I’d much rather debate with a fundamentalist if I didn’t believe the bible than a catholic because most catholics only believe in the traditions they have been raised in while the fundamentalists are taught to study the bible and find out the truth on there own.

ok, i think this is something important enough that you need to find what you believe. its not something you want to just let happen. i personally believe that if you know about him, yet you don’t do any research and you never find out the truth and what the religion is all about, then you missed your chance.
