Some of my best gaming times in my life were sitting around my buddy’s house with 4-5 of us playing Goldeneye for hours on end than switching over to mario 64 trying to beat each level by taking turns. Too bad gaming is not like that anymore, online has taken over.
Completely agree, I had so much more fun when we just had 2 N64’s and 2 copies of goldeneye and had tourny’s. We could play that game forever, never got old.
It’s more pressure playing in a room with 5 or 6 people right beside you than playing in a dark room by yourself with people 100’s of miles away. I miss that adrenaline

And everynow and then you’ll get a MP3 or Bioshock but now single player is simply used as being there more than being a key feature. Single player experience is the heart of gaming. All found out just by playing Zelda: OOT as it shows just how amazing a single player expereience really can be.

I lived through those times(not saying you didn’t) and from what i remember, the original did more for mario than gaming in general. 64 had more impact on the way games were played IMO.

I miss it as well. Of course I love playing Wii Sports with a lot of people. Just a hell of a lot of fun. Of coruse that’s more of a carefree game so it’s hard to get really intense but well not really. You get a bunch of people who are series about Wii tennis and it gets crazy.
Ya know it probably really doesn’t depend on the game its just offline multiplayer with a bunch of your friends is really just so much better than online play. Although its less convenient it just makes the experience so much better. Being able to physically show your abilities and jsut have fun.

Well there was so much different to it at the time. Not only 3d allowed for games to be played differently but the new control setup allowed for it to be controlled differently as well. There will probably never be as big of a graphical impact in gaming since the conversion of 2d to 3d.

Wii sports can be fun for sure, but when you’re playing with hardcore addicts side by side in a competitive survival pool match, it’s a great experience, like Goldeneye did.

Man Id have to say the same for Super Smash Brothers. Now with online coming for the Wii, Im hoping that SSBB will still be fun to play with friends. I mean I dont want to face some 8 year old from Japan who uses some cheap @$$ method to win.

Yeah. I used to play it at my friends house all the time. Halo 2 has pretty much made XBOX live what it is today.

WTF? Yes it has. It was one of the main games that helped the ps2 out in it’s early years.
