Exactly but Gohan had MORE potential. Goten DID have the distinct advantage of his dad going SSJ before his birth so yeah.

Gohan dousent say Goku is stronger they just say he has his old strenth back, Gohan has senced SSJ3 vs Fat Buu he knew he was stronger plus Fat Buu did better against SSJ3 than Super Buu did against Gohan holding back.

Umm actualy VEGETA was the one who pwned Frieza... Krillen and Gohan gor SLAUGHTERED.

Second Goku was nothing without Kaio Ken (a power up) against Freiza witch he used the entire fight to keep on par with him, without that Gohan was easily as strong as Goku he nearly destroys his third form and in the Anime could even be seen tackleing Final Form Freiza (without any form of power up).
The elder Namek RELEASED hella power. Krillen multiplied his power hella, he takes Gohan to get HIS power multplied. No powerup my ass. And yeh, BASE Goku made Frieza resort to Form 4... Vegeta, Gohan AND Krillen couldn’t beat form 3...

In the Hyper Bolic Time Chamber Goku held back Gohan says he dousent have what it takes to train him right, and forces Goku to use SSJ so he can unlock his true power “the power comes in responce to a need not a desire...create that need” these are the words Gohan had placed into his mind when he transformed for the first time if anything Gohan was training Goku in that room Goku even said it wasnt long before Gohan’s skill was just as good as his own, then SSJ2 kicked in.
