no one has a nose when you see their profile. They have a part jutting out under their eyes that leads directly into their chin like a snout, their mouth is on their cheek
Manga is a very good style of art. It may seem pretty easy but it can be very hard at times. Try dawing manga and you will know. The people of manga have a very unique shape and don’t just consist of squares, triangles and circles like dragons and fantasy creatures do. It focuses on many different shapes which is probabaly why it is a hard drawing style.
There is a good book for advanved drawers, 'The art of drawing manga' by Ben Krefta. It was my first and it helped me considerably. I like to lay into the hard stuff right away. This is a good book and quite thick and analyses many different aspects from basic structure to comic stripping.
You can also identify the differnet styles used like normal human structure to fully/super deformed (no noses, large heads, oversized eyes etc). Lucky star is quite deformed at points but Trinity Blood or Bleach is not, aside from the comedic scenes in Bleach. That is a good example of how you can combine normal and fully deformed anime. Normal for basic scenes and FD for comedic scenes.
Anime is not a hard style at all because you can, as you just said, get a book on how to draw it.
Anything that can have a book teach an entire genre of drawing is not a genre worth learning.
Anime is, and always has been, very “fill in the blank”. The characters are always 1 dimensional and the art is always two dimensional (before anyone points out that it’s got to be two dimensional since it’s on paper, know that it’s easy to be more dynamic with the art style).
Anime is great for people who want to be able to draw stuff by following set rules to draw characters and have no ability to form their own style and just want to do it to impress their peers. Anyone who can actually create their own style knows that anime is a cheap style, though.
Well, there is that. Manga, which is the correct form for drawn anime, has always been based on a simle structure. I just always found it a little challenging.
I normally copy parts from popular anime characters to help me Once you can copy them you can then change them into your own style. Well thats how I learnt. Try buying manga drawing books or borrow them from your library. Keep practicing and look back on your old drawings every so often, that will help you relise how much you have imroved which is the part I loveXD The practise part may seem__ normal/boring but it really does work, you will improve over time.
OR_____
Try drawing something in an ordinary drawing style then mangatise it=]
Hope this helps
