MovieCodec.com already has a username/password system in place, however registration of usernames has not been made public yet. So, for those who has had the problem of assholes that impersonate you, you will soon have a tool to combat it
Additionally, my login system has the ability to lock access to your account to your IP address only (increased security, but only IF you have a static IP).
Also I may enable you to edit all posts made under your username (after the day of registration of course).
Notice that in spite of this username system, users will still be able to post anonymously (not while logged in).
(this thread will be moved to the feedback board after a few days)
(email me if you want me to create an account for you now rather than later (when I have properly tested my registration scripts) - If in doubt I may require that you send from an email which you have used on the message board already|or provide IP address....)

So now it is possible to register for a user account and thus PROTECT your username.
You are NOT required to do so tho
Option to modify posts that you have made using an account will come some day.
Report any problems!
Faithfully,
Bjarne

Feature to let you retrieve forgotten password (resend to your email)

Feature to let you change password (after login)

ETA today or tomorrow. Depending on whether I run into probs
Future plan (someday.. ):

Let you edit posts you have made (including thread name)

Perhaps, and I mean perhaps, let you moderate your own threads

Now it uses slightly more cookies and a more trusting approach - right until you submit something / change something under a user account (whereupon a full check is performed).
The new approach requires less database lookups and is just as safe as normally (people trying to hack using cookies, might “think” they got in right until they actually try and use some of the functions ;-).
Faithfully,
Bjarne
