Canada Minus One
War of 1812: The war of 1812 was fought mainly between United States and British North America. In 1789 France had a revolution it dethroned its monarch and became republics. This made many monarchs nervous people might rise against them too. So monarchs, including Britain went to war against French republic. As part of war Britain shut down trade between the French and United States. This angered United States and also fought against British North America. United States tried to invade British North America expecting the colonists to join them, but the colonists didn’t.
If the British colonists did join the United States, the Americans might have won British North America which is Canada today. If they did win British North America would become a republic.
On the attack in Upper Canada Americans thought the Canadiens would help them fight against the British. But the Catholic Church opposed this because they were against a republic government. So during the wars Canadiens went against the French. This made the Canadiens fight with Britain. In a key battle the British and Canadiens faught against America in Montreal. The attacks were centered in Upper Canada, where the loyalists settled. Meanwhile U.S failed to take over Montreal. After the war Britain made settlers that supported the U.S to leave.
If the catholic church did not oppose the republic Canadiens would have joined the Americans and they would have had a fighting chance against Britain in Montreal. If they won U.S would control upper and lower Canada.
If this happened, today Canada would be U.S because if U.S won Northern British it would make them control Canada. This would also make us republic because they mainly faught for a republic government. Our main language might be French because U.S was fighting with the French. So mainly almost all of North America would be U.S
I got a pretty good mark on it
